* I purposely gave Riley's mother and sister Old Testament names. Rebecca (spelled either as such or as Rebekah), Riley's mother, was the wife of Issac in Genesis. In the Bible, Rebecca/Rebekah had a son named Jacob, who had two wives. One of which was named Leah.
* Riley was not given a biblical name because she felt separated from her family & the Bible. I wanted her to have faith without going with an organized religion or set book.
* Sarah's name comes from the Bible as well. Sarah was the wife of Abraham. She gave birth to Issac. Sarah in the Bible originally had weak faith in God but then it grew strong.
* Melinda's name came from the fact that I was watching Speak (good movie and book) while typing her introduction. It also came from the fact that I did not want her to have any sort of religious name because she was the opposite of what God wants his followers to do, which is loving everybody.
* I made the last name for Riley and her family Minister because a minister in Christian religions is someone who performs religious functions. With the Catholic Church, a minister is a person (lay or ordained, who is sanctioned to performs acts on behalf of the Church.
* Mr. Bender's name came from The Breakfast Club. I was thinking of a name while watching it and Paul Gleason called Judd Nelson, "Mr. Bender."
* Schwarz means "black" in German.
* The reason for my use of 3 (the three churches, the three schools, her dad picking up on the third ring) was to allude to the Trinity. (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit)
* Miss Pope came from the fact that the head of the Catholic Church is the Pope.
* The reason Riley and her family are Catholic is because I used to be a devout Catholic. Now, for all intents and purposes, I'm an Atheist.
* Gates High School's colors are blue and white because those were my high school's colors.
* Aysha actually started off based on one of my exes. We were dating when I started this book. She had black hair, hazel eyes, played the bassoon, is pansexual, & is a Pagan. She also had 4 brothers. Aysha grew from that with characteristics that are not based on my ex.
* I didn't make the sex scene in here graphic and I made it awkward for the fact that this was not meant to be erotica and that some first times are awkward.
* Love conquers all is a phrase from Virgil's Ecologue X. In Latin it's "omina vincit amor." It was also meant as an allusion to the Biblical verses Romans 8:37 and 1 Corinthians 13.
* The title for Liar Liar came from the fact that many LGBT kids lie about their relationships out of fear, just like how Riley lied about being involved with Aysha due to fear.
