Chapter Twenty Three
                              Syn
He was cute I couldn't lie. Most of the time I never crossed cute guys with kids only because they were either fucking their baby momma or struggling to survive because of child support checks. Even though I was super restricted with guys like Game, he was somewhat different. He had an actual life besides constantly arguing with people or being some street boy, it just came at me different.
"So I don't know how to say this without offending you but-"
"Am I single?" he interrupted. I raised my brow, smiled then blushed.
"I mean I'm not scared to ask that but if you want to answer me by guest," I said. He chuckled showing these pearly whites that just made me stare even harder.
"To answer my question, I am." He said and I looked down at Gia who munched down her ice cream faster than anything.
"What about her mom?" I asked. He kissed his teeth and started laughing, making me look at him weird.
"Listen, her mom is something else. I noticed that once she found out she was pregnant and being like any civilized black man I just did my duties to be a father to Gia and keep it moving. Me and Teresa weren't meant to be together," he explained while I took a bite of my ice cream and nodded my head.
Even though Game talked a good game, I still felt like there was something about him that I didn't know. He was just a stranger to me.
"But enough about me, are you single?" he asked and I took another bite of my ice cream and smiled.
                              "Just got in a relationship."
"So how quick is it to get you out of it?" he bit his lip. I laughed sneaking in a snort which made me stop and look at him,
"Did you just snort?" he laughed. I covered my mouth, nodding my head. He smiled shaking his head.
"Sorry, it was your come back.  That was funny," I said . He looked at me and smiled.
"Hey I always attract the ones in a relationship but I know my limit. I know the guy cares about you much."
"How long have you been single?" I asked. He looked down at Gia and kissed her on the forehead.
"Ever since she was born," he answered and my eyes widened. Four years seemed super long to not be in in a relationship but if I had to add up the constant times Santana has prevented me from being in a relationship it would be just a little more than four years, "It seems long but she makes it go by quicker."
I sat back in my chair and looked at him. Maybe he wasn't so suspicious. He was basically normal to me in a way that was attractive but I had Zeno.
Now that I analyze him they look similar in a way.

"So what to do you do besides be a father to the princess here," I said looking down at Gia who was knocked out on his lap.
"I have to be honest. I used to be drug dealer," my face turned serious, making me take a deep breath. He grabbed my hand and smiled, "But I left that lifestyle for my daughter and got into construction and janitorial work so it gets hectic," he explained. I calmed down making him smile. "You got a bad side for drug dealers, huh?" he asked and I nodded.
"I mean it aint nothing personal but they carry a rep around with them. I don't want to be a part of that business." I explained.
"Sounds like your man is part of that," he pitched and I took a deep breath getting up.
"I think it's time for me for me to go," I said putting on my backpack. He grabbed my arm and stood.
"I know you don't want to say it but I could see it in the way you talk. You don't have to be ashamed. A lot of these drug dealers aren't as deep into the streets as you think they are."
I raised my brow at him, "What makes you think that?"
"Because I was that guy but it just took one special person to get me back to normal." He looked at me with the most solid eyes. Even though me and him shared the same color eyes, his eyes spoke of a story instead of a color.
"I've got to go, put lil mama to sleep," I said as I looked behind his shoulder and saw her knocked out.
"Well let me at least walk you to your car. It's the least I could do for you keeping us company." he smiled and I nodded my head as he opened the door like a gentleman. I walked out and he followed behind.
I finally got my baby Nissan out of the shop and the first thing that happens is a fine ass man walking me to my car. This had to be one of the best ones yet, since high school to be honest. Once I got to my car I walked to the driver's side and opened the door. He walked over to the other side as if he was riding with me but then opened the car door to the white Charger next to me.
He smiled, "You thought I was riding with you?" he asked. I got in my car turning on the car and pressed the button putting down the windows. I could see him putting Gia in the backseat. Once he finished he got out and leaned into my window, looking dead at me.
"Um excuse me? You a little too comfortable, huh?" I asked. He smiled.
"You got jokes huh?" he licked his lips making my legs twitch just a little but I contained myself.
                              "Just a little."
"Well I wondering if it was joke to ask for your number."
"I thought you respect a woman who has a man?" I smiled raising my brow.
"I know a woman who is a dedicated to her man. If you were you would have never given me the time of day, even with my daughter with me. I actually do respect you and your relationship. I'll be civilized and just be friends, cool?" he explained and I looked at him. This dude was really serious. I swear he just explained both sides but didn't, I don't know. That was just a little weird.
He handed me his phone and I put my number in and handed it back to him. He smiled finally and left my window.
                              "I'll hit you up."
                              "I'll look forward to it."
