Chapter Six
Zeno
Last night was a hard one. I couldn't sleep for barely an hour without thinking about so much shit. Maybe it was the constant reminder that I was out of jail and had to really start from the beginning. That included finding a new spot and maybe trying to settle down with a chick who I knew was going to hold me down in all the bullshit, after being released. Most women would hate the fact that I'd been to jail so I knew it was going to be hard for a woman to accept the fact that I was fresh out after a five year bid. That's why I envied Santana and Tokyo's relationship. Eight years they've been together and she held him down through anything that went on in the hood, whether it was his fault or not. I knew she was going to be a little worried about certain things but Santana was one careful ass nigga. He always made sure that when something happened they made it look like he had never even been there. He also made sure to protect his family first through anything. Something that I wish I still had.
I looked at the clock and it was already 5AM. Avant should be in the front of the hotel which made me think about getting a damn car, but I wasn't going to make myself so damn noticeable. Especially to Xavion. I had to start small. I couldn't let niggas see me hit big after only having one day out. I needed to progress day after day instead of instantly hitting big and going all superstar on muhfuckas.
As I got up and left the hotel room, I looked through my contacts again and saw Syn's number. I was still a little fucked up how she did me at the mall but it made me want to get at her even harder than before. Just the sign that she took the flowers with her meant that she was still interested.
I pressed her number and texted her.
Good morning beautiful, hope you having a beautiful morning.
Once I pressed send, Avant was calling me and I answered.
"Got you, I'm heading outside right now," I said and hung up. I walked into the elevator, to the lobby and got into his car.
I swear on everything this nigga was always listening to the music he and I made which made me want to go back into the studio, but I had to make this money first before anything. Plus it was too early for this nigga to be blasting music like this, especially in front of the white businesses before they labeled us as suspicious. As much as Avant sported a clean ass record, I knew that if we got stopped I was getting in the car first.
I turned down the volume and looked at him shaking my head. "Nigga you ever had a quiet morning?" I asked and he looked at me shaking his head.
"Man the music keep me up," he answered, swerving on the corner, making me look at him.
I put the music back up because I felt like this nigga was going to kill me and it's barely been a week back into society.
I sat back in my chair and my phone vibrated. I looked to see a text from Syn.
Thanks for messing up my morning; you know people sleep at this time?
This girl was something else but I knew that I could handle her ass, unlike other niggas who could barely have a chance. I mean I knew she was caught off guard about me being an ex-convict but she was going to have to see past that somehow. Not all ex-convicts were crazy as fuck.
No I'm always up this early. It's from being in jail for five years lol. But how about breakfast this morning, I'll pick you up?
"You are trying to get some morning pussy?" Avant asked and I looked at him with my brow raised and sighed.
