Layla stepped out of Justin's Range Rover to the pavement. She looked to the front door of her house, sighing. Layla grasped the door handle and looked back to Justin. Her hand let go of the handle as she walked back to him. Layla took his hand in hers.

"I love you." Layla muttered as Justin pulled her closer. He took a deep breath and closed his deep hazel eyes.

"I love you to." He quietly replied, letting her go. Layla looked up into Justin's eyes. They were dark, deep, sullen even. She took a step toward the porch. She wouldn't let something this small bother her. It was only for a few days. Not a few years. A few days.

"I'm fine." Layla faintly smiled. But Justin could read Layla like an open book. She was lying. Justin stepped up to her. He stood beside her and grabbed her hand. And, Layla didn't worry. She wasn't afraid. Only this mattered. Only he mattered.

"I'll be back tonight." Justin looked at Layla and flashed a goofy smile in her direction before wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Ok." Layla nodded, running a hand through her hair. She rested her head in the crook of Justin's neck.

"I leave tomorrow night. Three days. No worries." Justin whispered into her ear, sending hot shivers down Layla's spine. Layla kissed his cheek quickly before stepping back.

"See you tonight." Layla turned her back to Justin. Maybe... his place instead/ She was curious and there were too many memories at that house.

"Can you pick me up so we can go to your place, instead?" Layla asked, playing with her fingers.

"I want to see what your place is like." She bit her lip, hearing Justin snicker behind her.

"Anything you want, baby." He smiled, shoving his hands into his jean pockets. Layla grinned and turn towards him.

"I love you." Justin said, grinning along with Layla as he began to walk back to his silver car.

"I love you to." Layla whispered, turning to the door. As she could hear the hum of the engine, her gut clenched together. As if something would happen.

Layla shut the door, pealing off her bomber jacket and tossing it to the couch cushions. She curled into a ball, pulling her knees to her chest, when Justin crossed her mind once again. She found herself smiling at just the thought of his smile.

The beautiful, kind, giving smile that she felt she had been waiting her whole life for. She listened for a sound, a voice, a bell. Anything. It was quiet, even peaceful in her house. So peaceful to the point where she could hear her own heart beat. She took slow, deep breaths as she watched the Sherbert sun go down before her eyes.
