Dylan's POV
"Ben, leave that alone!" I yell at Ben as he tries to grab the papers off the coffee table. He turns at the sound of my voice, he then turns back around laughing and throwing the papers off the table even faster. "Come sit," I grab him making him sit next to me on the sofa. I take the papers off the floor putting them back in their rightful place.
I look at the time to see if it is almost time for Marie-Anne to come and get him. I have no problem watching him, but he has been driving me crazy today. He throws things on the floor, yells for nothing, and even tries to bite my hand. As if God heard my prayers, the doorbell rings, I quickly get up taking Ben with me and opening the door.
Marie-Anne stands at the door, her hair in a messy bun, she has a pair of yoga pants on and a tank top. No wonder she took so long, she went home after work to change. She takes Ben from me kissing his cheek, "I missed you," she says to him. "Hey," she acknowledges me.
"Hey," I say back awkwardly. She looks up at me giving me an awkward smile. It was probably a bad idea to kiss her back, it just made things really awkward between us. And it can't be awkward between us, we see each other every day. It's either she is at my place or I'm at hers.
It's not like I didn't want to be with her, I just don't want to try when I know there is a chance we will fail. It's not only about me this time, we have a kid together. We might as well keep it professional for Ben. "Dylan," Marie-Anne says breaking my train of thought.
"Yeah?" I ask her back.
"Tomorrow Esther wants to spend some quality time with Ben, so I was wondering if you wanted to do something since we both have nothing to do?" She asks. I stare at her not knowing what to say, so Esther just decided he wanted to spend time with Ben when she sees him every day. "It's fine if you don't want to, I mean it's just-" She starts, I cut her off before she has a chance to continue.
"No, it's fine,"I answer her, "we can do something," I add. I didn't want her to think I didn't want to, I want to, just shouldn't. "What do you want to do?" I ask her. I realize we were still standing at the door, I motion for her to get in closing the door. Marie-Anne takes a seat on the sofa and I follow suit.
"Anything's fine," she answers. "As long as it's not around babies," she jokes. I chuckle as if Ben understood what she said, he pulls her hair causing her hair to fall over her face. She sets Ben on the floor, I watch as she puts back her hair into a bun. "My point was proven," she utters sighing. "You know how to play frisbee?" She asks.
"You mean to throw a frisbee?" I ask her back. I didn't know people played frisbees, you throw a frisbee, at least I think so. Let me not try to correct people when I never played any games as a kid.
"Same thing," she corrects.
"Nope," I say popping the p. Who takes their time throwing frisbees? I
"Do you want to learn?" She asks.
"Not really," I answer honestly.
"Doesn't matter, I'm gonna teach you," she is getting excited, I thought I just said I didn't want to learn. I shake my head not saying anything, "anyway, I have to go," she says getting up from the sofa. I grab Ben, we walk out the door and I put him in his chair.
"Goodnight," I say tickling his stomach, he laughs showing his two little teeth. "Drive safe," I tell Marie-Anne.
"Always do," she gets the car, I watch as she drives away.

Marie-Anne's POV
"Shouldn't you be wearing something nicer?" Esther aks when I come out of my room. I look down at my outfit, I am wearing a short light brown dress that matches my skin color and some flats.
"No," I answer her. I walk to the kitchen grabbing a bottle of water. "I'll miss you," I say picking up Ben.
"Girl bye, he'll be right here when you come back," Esther shoots at me. "Now, go be with your man," she says pointing towards the door.
"He's not my man," I correct her.
"You wish he was," she snaps back. I roll my eyes at her, she knows I wish he was, but he isn't. I don't know why I let Esther talk me into this. When she told me to ask him out, I came with the excuse that I had to watch Ben, but she volunteered to watch him.
No matter how much I wanted to be Dylan, this isn't about me no more. We've tried dating two times now, why will this time work? We are in a good place right now, I just don't want to mess it up, for Ben.
Maybe this time will work, the first two times never worked primarily because of me. "Bye," I tell her. I kiss Ben's forehead and give him to Esther. I walk fast out the house so I don't change my mind.
Dylan called me earlier saying he was not learning how to play frisbee, he said we could have dinner together instead. He'll be cooking, who doesn't love Dylan's cooking? I get in my car and start driving to Dylan's house.
I ring the doorbell after the one hour drive after my third ring Dylan opens the door. The smell of food instantly hits my nostrils, my stomach growls responding to the smell. Dylan scratches his throat, I look up entering his place. "How was your day?" He asks grabbing my bag from my hand, such a gentleman.
"It was productive, how was yours?" I ask him back.
"Good," he says with a smile. "I don't know, today was a good day. It's always a good day when God wakes you up," he added. Why is he so happy talking about his day? I chuckle shaking my head not wanting to question him about it. "Hope you're hungry," he changes the subject.
"Yeah," I answer.
"Just take a seat, your chef will be right with you," he bows leaving the room shortly after. I sit down in the living room flipping the channels, there is nothing good on TV these days.
I walk to the kitchen to see what Dylan is up to, I sneak up behind him doing grimaces. He doesn't hear me nor see me, he starts singing a tune I am not familiar with. I lean on the counter trying to tippy toe to see if I could see. Dylan turns around in a swift motion, his body banging into mine. "I didn't know you were behind me," he declares.
"Sorry," I reply. "Are you going to move?" I ask him when he doesn't move even though he is so close to me. He eyes me up and down then stares into my eyes as if waiting for something.
"You're the one holding onto me."
