"How was the hospital?" Mum asked me as I walked into the house, front door slamming behind me.
"Charming." I replied sarcastically.
Mum frowned at me. "What happened?"
"The receptionist tried to deny access to his room to me, she had to know how I knew him. I didn't expect him to be beaten black and blue. I couldn't find any words to say to him, even if he could hear me. And to wrap the whole thing up, some alarm went off and some nurses came and took him away, not even giving me an reason why." I explained to her, sitting down on one of the kitchen stools.
"He was put in a coma." She said.
I just looked at her, a look of confusion across my face. "What?"
"You said you couldn't find any words to say to him. He is in a coma. Supposedly he can hear you, but I don't know." She elaborated.
"Oh." That was all I could manage to say.
I saw my mums mouth about to open, but before she got the chance to say anything, her phone rang in her pocket, making her slightly jump.
She picked it up and answered it, talking in a harsh whisper to the person on the other side of the phone. She sighed heavily and hung up.
Mum looked at me, concern filling her eyes. "I'm sorry sweetie, that was the hospital. They need me to go in for something." She kissed me on the head and got up towards the front door.
I waved a hand at her. "Yeah sure. I'll make pasta for dinner tonight." I knew she would be gone for quite a while, just like all the other times the hospital called her in to work.
She waved back at me and said goodbye, before walking out the door.
It was only 1 o'clock, and I had at least another five or six hours until Mum was going to be let out from whatever she was doing, so that means I have six hours of free time.
But I don't know what to do during my free time.
I grabbed my phone and walked up towards my room. The door was slightly ajar when I walked in, which means that someone had previously come into my room.
But there was no one in there, ready to jump out from under my bed and yell surprise, giving me a heart attack and probably ending in a broken nose on their part.
I was just going to change out of my clothes and get into my pyjamas but a shower sounded really nice right then.
I stripped of my clothes, placing them in a neat - okay not neat - pile on my bed, and grabbed a towel. Wrapping the towel around my body, I walked out into the hall and then into the bathroom.
I love showers, but I couldn't be asked to have a long one today. Just enough to get in and wash all my nonexistent worries away.
As I turned off the water, I heard a loud bang, coming from downstairs. The sound the front door makes when it closes.
I quickly dried myself and went back into my room, grabbed the closest clothes near me and chucking them on. They were the clothes i was wearing earlier.
