Clothing

Like we've all noticed the ninja usually where their color no matter what type of clothing it is well I kinda have a headcanon on why...

Cole:
As basically everyone knows Cole's favorite color is orange so why would he wear so much black?
Well, I think ever since everyone got their own color and his was black he kinda thought that it was his color and decided to stick with it and he noticed with the darker colors he appeared more intimidating resulting in some enemies wearier of him, plus he can't help but notice how black makes him look awesome.

Kai:
Simple though he would never admit it he kinda has a theme going on
With his spiky hair looking like fire, his power being fire, and red being the color of fire plus he's hot-headed also, He kinda of thinks it makes him look hotter when he wears red which also works with fire. It's a color he always liked and now that he's the ninja of Fire he has fully embraced the aesthetic.

Jay:
The reason he wears blue all the time is because it makes him think of his favorite superheroes who always wear one color and when he wears blue he feels like he's a superhero like his idols. He has embraced being the blue ninja it makes him feel as though he truly is a superhero especially since he does so much to help the people of Ninjago.

Zane:
At first, he didn't really care or have a preference his gi was white so it fit and it didn't really matter but once he got his memories back he remembered that his father gave him white clothes to wear and now it makes him think of his dad. So I believe the white which at first most likely didn't have much meaning to him now is a meaningful aspect that he connects to with his dad.

Lloyd:
He used to wear black so he could be like his dad but once he found out he was the green ninja he decided green was his new favorite color because he felt like it proved that he wasn't evil and that he was good. It was the color that led him to being a ninja and being good, so to him, it symbolizes how he's grown and how he's become a better person. With the color green being his color of rebirth for him as a person.

Nya:

While she is the ninja of water and her favorite color is blue, I think she chose to stay with her signature red/maroon because it reminds her of growing up with just her and her brother. Which is also why I think she embraces a bit of blue because it reminds her of her mother. For Nya her colors are sentimental to her upbringing and her family. 

While the ninja could just wear their colors all the time because it's the color of their gi, I thought about how each color has a different meaning to the ninja, and when I did, I realized that their colors really could symbolize and have deeper meanings to them.
