"You think you would find a way to be useful in this lab." Barry glanced over to the girl who sat next to him, who was (in a not so lady-like matter) angrily digging into a hamburger with a fork and knife.

After the whole scene at the gun shop, Alex had convinced Barry to take a detour over to Big Belly Burger, where Alex paid for a big, fat, half pound burger. Due to Barry's pleas, Alex ate with a fork and knife to avoid grease seeping into the bandages on her hands.

Alex raised her eyebrow in a non convinced manner. With the end of her plastic knife pointed to Barry she spit out a half-hearted threat.

"I don't think you want to see my version of helping," A scoff escaped her laugh as she saw the convinced expression that spread across Barry's face. "It wouldn't get you anywhere."

A laugh escaped Barry as he shook the beaker with his super speed. The wizard tore her attention away from her magazine, and looked in amazement as all the chemicals and substances separated into their own layer. If there was any subject besides art that Alex made a speck of interest towards, it had to be science. The clicking of heels broke Alex out of her trance.

Both Barry and Alex stared at the girl with fascination. Over the few weeks Alex had arrived at Central City, she had made CC Jitters her new Sub Station. If not trapped at work or at the comfort of her own apartment, you would most likely find Alex in a cozy atmosphere of the coffee shop. In that time, Alex also found a person to fill that void that Harper Finkle wasn't there to fill: Iris. The girls immediately bonded and so far they had told each almost everything. From the secret relationship between Eddie and Iris, to all of Alex's ex-boyfriends, the girls knew a lot about each other.

Though no one expected it, Iris liked how blunt the wizard was.  And through Alex's notorious reputation of lying, she somehow felt enough comfort within Iris to be fully truthful with her new friend. Fully truthful most of the time. A lot of the time. Some of the time. Okay, Alex told the absolute truth to Iris sometimes.

"I hate you!" Iris exhaled in frustration.

Alex mentally scoffed before speaking out. "Well that took a turn."

Iris gave Alex a sarcastic scoff and a smirk before turning back to her childhood best friend.

"This is all your fault," She gave Barry a pointed look. "I could have taken European folklore to cover my sociology requirement, but no!"

She courageously marched to the two CCPD workers using extravagant hand gestures.

"You said, "Take journalism, Iris. Reporters have all the fun." Well guess what, Barry? Reporters have none of the fun. Journalism is boring. I blame you."

Both Iris and Alex turned to the forensic scientist awaiting his comeback. He just stared at his childhood best friend as she ranted. The wizard carefully studied the way Barry stared at Iris. Pure love showed through his eyes and Alex could only imagine all the thoughts that filtered through his mind. Then Alex turned to Iris, who continued on her rant, completely oblivious to the way Barry looked at her.
