Alex sat in her own little corner of Barry's lab, shuffling through her drawings. Though Joe had basically given her the job, she still had to turn in a résumé and a portfolio. Joe was reluctant to let such an unexperienced and disorganized girl run around the police station, but he couldn't hide the fact that she was a brilliant artist.

Alex chuckled going through her old drawings. There were her Punk Dollhouse graphic t-shirt design, the rainbow circle painting she had done back in high school, and different graffiti designs she had created. Plus, there was some art Alex really put her heart into. First there was a portrait of Harper. The vibrant colors on the oil painting matched the personality of her best friend.

The wizard softly caressed the cheek of the drawing version of Harper. She missed the eccentric styled girl and the way she brightened up the room in a split second. After the minor disagreement with Barry, Alex headed to the police station, actually set on doing some work and making some cash. There was no doubt that there was no Harper in Central City. No one would have Harper's sense of style, no one would be Alex's external conscious that would try to guide her in the right direction, and no one would have the patience the youngest Finkle held for Alex. Alex truly felt alone in Central City, even though her family and friends were only a spell and a wave of her magic wand away. Or a quick run for Barry if Alex felt too lazy to cast a spell.

Barry. Oh, Barry. The speedster sure was foolish even though he was a educated and smart forensic scientist, but she couldn't deny that Barry was quite attractive. Alex was always a sucker for brown eyes, brown hair, and always looked cuddly. Mason, for example was who she thought she would spend forever with. Spoiler: she was wrong. It's not like the two despised each other now, in fact, they spent time texting each other everyday. They just drifted apart, agreeing that staying friends was their best bet. Barry was just in Alex's lane; tall, brunette, brown-eyed, and extremely unique. This time this boy was a speedster, not a werewolf.

The wizard quickly pushed her thoughts of Barry and Mason away, directing her attention back to her work.

The doors to Barry's lab opened, Joe protruding from the doors, holding two cups of coffee and looking around the room.

The detective walked up to Alex's tiny desk knocking on the metal top, "Knock knock."

Alex smiled as she looked at the older man. In such a short amount of time, Joe had taken the young adult under his wing. He had given her a job, introduced her to her workers, and seemed to help her settle down in Central City.

"Hey, Joe!" Alex gave a tired smile, "What brings you here?"

"Came to give you some tea," Joe placed one of the coffee cups in front of her, "I went out and Iris told me to give it to you."

Now Alex Russo a few years ago would've taken the drink without looking back, but after she learned some common decency, she thought paying back Joe would suffice for his kind action.
