We finished our oatmeal just as Maggie had started to make her way to us. Daryl quickly stood up and grabbed our bowls. He went over to put them away. I stood up and hugged her.

“Are you okay? How was your nap?” I asked when we parted.

“Yeah. The nap was really needed. Everything okay? Sasha told me that you two would be staying at that new settlement. The Kingdom?” she said.

“Yeah. That was the plan but it all became too much for Daryl. He wasn’t comfortable there so here we are. Morgan is there though,” I said.

“Yeah, I heard. How is he?” she asked.

“He’s good. It was good to see him,” I said.

She then looked over to where Daryl had gone.

“Is he okay?” she asked.

“As okay as one can be,” I said looking over at him.

“It’s just...he hasn’t said a word to me since he got here. Before you all left. Has he said anything about it?” she asked.

“No. Nothing at all,” I lied.

“Well I’m glad you two are back,” she said hugging me once again.

“Have you been visiting Dr. Carson?” I asked.

“Yes. Everything is looking good,” she replied.

“That’s great,” I said.

“Well, it’s time to do my daily rounds. Check on others,” she said.

“You got it, Madam President,” I said.

She chuckled.

“I’ll see you later,” she said.

“Bye,” I said.

I picked up Daryl’s and my backpack. He came by and took his.

“She asked about you,” I said.

“What she say?” he asked.

“If you were okay. And she wondered why you hadn’t said a word to her since you came here. I told you she’d notice,” I said.

“I just...I can’t face her,” he whispered.

I wrapped my arms around him and held him tightly.

“It’s okay,” I said kissing his cheek.

He wrapped his arms around me and held onto me just as tightly.

“We should go and see Dr. Carson. Check if your bandage needs a change,” I said.

“Yours too,” he said.

“I can't even feel my wound. I think the bandage I have now will do just fine,” I said.

“Ain't nothing wrong with checking,” he said.

“All right. Let's go then,” I said.

We made our way to Dr. Carson's trailer. I went up and knocked on the door.

“Come in,” he called.

I opened the door and the both of us went inside.

“Amelia. Daryl. You guys are back,” he said.

“Hey, doc. We just got back a few minutes ago,” I said.

“You need me to check on something?” he asked.

“His bullet wound,” I said.

“And hers,” Daryl said.

“Take a seat,” he said.
