Chapter 20 – The Adventures of Mrs. Torres

 

 

“Are you really sure about this?”

Monique rolled her eyes when his husband asked her that question for the tenth time. Ngayong araw na kasi siya papasok sa Torres Corp. Last week, she processed her resignation papers for Star. One week din bago naapprove ang resignation niya. Nag-iyakan pa nga sila ng kaibigan niyang si Mariz, na mamimiss daw siya nito.

Kahit alam niyang matagal-tagal na rin siyang nagtrabaho sa Star, she needs to work for his husband’s corporation. Gusto niyang makatulong dito sa corporation even in her own little way as well as what Nick’s father said. Plus, gusto rin niyang bantayan ito doon sa corp, aminado siyang maraming magagandang employees ang nagtratrabaho para sa Torres Corporation when she last visited it. 

Monique then put some red lipstick on her lips and turned her head at his husband who was sitting on their bed, waiting for her to finish. “Ilang beses mo na ba yang tinanong sa kin? I’m very sure, Nick.” She raised an eyebrow. Hindi niya tuloy maiwasan na tarayan ito. Tanong kasi ito ng tanong sa kanya.

Nick sighed. “Well, babe, matagal-tagal ka na kasi sa Star, saka diba, kapropromote mo pa lang? Sayang din kasi.”

Monique crossed her arms. “Nick, tell me, may tinatago ka ba sa kin?”

She noticed Nick also raised his eyebrow at her. “What?”

“Bakit parang ayaw mong magtrabaho ako sa Torres Corp? Siguro, may babae ka no?” she suspected, still crossing her arms.

“I don’t have any woman!” tila naging defensive pa ang tono ng boses nito sa kanya.

“Good, then I’m going to work for you corporation.” Kinuha na niya ang purse niya na katabi nito sa kama.

“But Monique as I say—“

“Nick.” She glared at him and then rolled her eyes again. “Magiging masaya ako kung magtratrabaho ako sa Torres Corp. So remember, as what I always say, a happy wife means a happy life.” She smirked saka tinalikuran na ito.

Nauna na siyang lumabas sa kwarto nila at bago pa man siya makababa, she called him, “Babe, tayo na. Malelate na tayo.”

“Baby, ngiti ka naman.” Monique cheerfully said to Nick as he frowned more. Kararating lang kasi nila sa opisina nito sa Torres Corp building. And as usual, when they arrived in the corp building, everyone greeted them politely. May napapansin nga rin siyang ibang mga babaeng employees na parang may mga hidden desire sa asawa niya but she just held her husband’s arm tightly para ipakita sa mga ito na may Mrs. Torres na.

“Monique—“

Hindi ito natuloy sa pagsasalita nang ayusin niya ang suot nitong necktie. “Yan kasi, nakasimangot ka, hindi mo tuloy naayos ang sarili mo.” She said. “Tada.” She smiled proudly when she was finished fixing his necktie.

He exasperatingly sighed. “Babe, are you really sure about this? Tapos gusto mo pang magsimula sa baba. I just don’t want my wife working below her credentials na dapat mataas ang position mo rito.”

“Nick, okay lang talaga. Saka, mabuti rin ‘to kung magsisimula ako sa baba so I can really learn a lot with this business. Alam mo namang sa call center ako nagtratrabaho and also, I graduated in a business related degree kaya kakayanin ko.” She assured him.

“But—“

“Baby, remember, a happy wife means a happy life.” She used her line again.
