“Kailangan mo ba talaga akong iwan?”

Nick sighed in frustration when his wife asked that question again. After he was done zipping the luggage that he will bring unto his business trip, he turned his head at her who was just sitting beside him on the bed as she was watching him fixing his things. “Babe, I already explained it to you. Kailangang ako ang pumunta sa Australia para sa expansion ng Torres Corp so that all the transactions will happen there will be done properly and neatly. Hindi pwedeng hindi ako pumunta ‘dun kasi I’m the head.” He explained it again.

Noong isang gabi kasi, sinabihan niya ito na pupunta siya sa Australia para sa expansion ng Torres Corp sa susunod na araw. At first, umiyak agad ang asawa niya at hindi ito pumayag tungkol doon but as he explained the things properly and thoroughly at her, napilitan din itong umoo. He explained everything and assured her na babalik naman agad siya after sa one week stay niya sa Australia and of course, he will call her every night habang nandoon pa siya.

Pero the day before his flight, nagiging emotional na naman ulit ito sa pag-alis niya, begging him to stay with her at home pero para sa kanya, hindi kasi pwede dahil kailangang kailangan siya doon sa Australia. The expansion that will happen there depends on him.

“P-pero.. ayokong iwan mo kong mag-isa dito.. Babe, please.. ayokong mag-isa ako rito sa bahay gabi-gabi..” she cried again. Gumising pa naman din ito ng maaga para lang daw maabutan pa siya nito sa bahay. Maaga kasi ang flight niya papunta sa Australia.

 Huminga na lang ng malalim si Nick dahil sa inaasal nito. He had to understand her because she was pregnant kaya ganito ito kaemotional at demanding. And no matter what happens, she is his wife and he loves her very much as well as the little angel on her womb.

Nick squeezed her hand reassuringly. “Baby, don’t worry. Pinakiusapan ko si Noreen na samahan ka rito sa bahay saka one week lang naman ako ‘dun sa Australia e. Babalik din naman ako kaagad saka I’ll call you every day.” Sabi niya para tumahan na ito. He called his younger sister last night na samahan muna ang asawa niya sa bahay for one week because he will be out for his business trip. Okay naman si Noreen doon kaya everything was settled immediately.

Hindi pa rin ito tumitigil sa pag-iyak, “But.. can I just go with you? Pwede naman siguro kitang samahan papunta doon e.”

Nick smiled and kissed her forehead, “I would love to but babe, you’re pregnant. Baka mapano ka ‘dun kasi I’ll be busy supervising the expansion, hindi kita matitignan at maalagaan. And of course, mabobored ka lang ‘dun.” He answered. Yes, it is true kasi magiging busy lang siya sa Australia and he will not have enough time para bantayan ito doon.

Sumisinghot-singhot pa ito, “P-pero.. baka manganak ako dito babe.. tapos wala ka..”

Nick frowned. His wife was exaggerating. “Monique, it’ll be fine. Saka don’t exaggerate things, you’re not even four months pregnant, two and a half months ka pa lang kaya hindi ka pa manganganak.”

Mas lalo pa itong umiyak, “P-pero.. baka hindi ka na bumalik o.. baka matagal pa.. ayokong iwan mo ko ulit.. yung iniwan mo ko for two weeks dito mag-isa.. Nick, ayoko ng ganun..” halata sa itsura nito ang takot na iwan niya ito ulit gaya sa nangyari sa kanila noon at dahil na rin buntis ito.

Nick’s eyes softened and cupped her face, “Hey, hindi na ulit mangyayari yun. Saka like I said, one week lang ako ‘dun babe, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Trust me, I’ll be back soon.”
