Twelve Years Before (Continued)

Luke and I, like lost mice in a temple, had no sense of where to go. We set out shortly after being astonished by the strange power that took over my body. Because of the power, we completely forgot which way was which. Luke was so shocked that he couldn't remember which way he brought my unconscious body before he submerged me in water. The power... what was it?

"Katiara, we have to get back soon. If we don't... who knows where we could end up." I honestly felt sorry for him; he worked to get me conscious for quite a few hours with no sleep. His mind must have been boggled up in a jar. "Luke, it's alright. All we need is each other."

We walked through Alderaan for a long time without any sign of family. Through all the dirt and rock, it just seemed like we were using all this energy for nothing.

"Hey Lukie Pookie!" I grinned. "Kat... stop, please." His face always goes flat whenever I call him that. "Okay, fine. Luke, why don't we get to the top of that mountain over there to get a better view? We might be able to see something from there, or maybe they will see us!" I pointed to the unknown direction of the mountain; it was giant. Luke's jaw dropped. It was a mountain about a mile away; there was one side where we could climb up. The other side was a dead drop. On the sides about halfway up continued a short mountain trail. "Kat... that's... a big-" I cut him off before he could say more. "Let's go!" I grabbed his hand and ran.

We finally reached the mountain. We both took once good glimpse at the top before I grabbed Luke's hand again and went for the top. The accessible side we went on was slanted quite a bit, but it still wasn't easy. Through the slipping on rocks, tripping in holes, splinters in our feet, we were still holding each others hand. Nothing could separate us at this point. Not even half way up the mountain and Luke falls to the ground and I fall with him. He was dehydrated and almost passed out. After all, he never got the full rest he needed from saving my butt. I almost felt the same way; I was also almost to the point of dehydration. The heat was getting stronger and stronger by the moment.

"Katiara, go on without me. I'll be right here waiting for you. Get to the top and tell me what you see." His gentle eyes were harmed and bloodshot. His soft-toned skin with a layer of dry dirt. His lips, brittle and cracked. Time didn't seem like a thing for the moment I was able to look in his beautiful eyes. Starved, he was. Beaten, he looked. I looked at our hands, still grasping each others. Now was not the time to let go. I felt the pain he felt just by looking at him. What other option did we have but to go down immediately? I thought for a moment or two. I knew I wasn't going to make it to the top alone. I thought of a better option; find the closest peak and look from there. You couldn't see anything from the point we were at. It had to be the only option.

"Luke, I know you're struggling, but can you walk around a bit to find the best view?" He struggled to say the next words because of such a dry mouth,"yeah," he barely had the words,"I can." I helped him stand to his feet. I looked nearby for a close peak to get a good view of the area. Not one. At this point, the both of us were at the peak of death. "Here, Kat. I'll find what you're looking for. I can--wait, no--we can." Where did this sudden burst of energy come from?

Ever since the random power came, I was leading the route. This time, Luke was leading it. Our hands were still clenched together. The path on the top of the mountain line we were on was getting thin and steep. The both of us were stumbling and slipping.

Luke's left foot slipped and he fell down the side with no grasp on to anything but my hand. I fell with him except I was laying on the top and he was hanging down below. The cliff was steep with nowhere to put his feet, his hand tried to grasp the top. "Kat!" He exclaimed. "Luke!" I tried to pull him up, but nothing was working. I grabbed his other hand that was trying to clench on to the top and I pulled, but my body was sliding down along with him. There was nowhere to lock my body on to, my feet couldn't find a small slit in the rock as an aid. I sensed something coming, a force of strength... an unknown voice.

"Use it!"

Use what?
