As our hearts pounded with fear, we ran to a nearby speeder and took off. Luke took the reigns, as he has more experience than I do. I took a glance behind my right shoulder, and there he was; the same hooded figure was still chasing us down.

"Luke! Let's go!" I yelled in his ear. I looked at his hands, fidgeting with the starter of the speeder. It wouldn't start. Luke looked back at me.

"Kat, we have a problem," he nervously said as we both took another glance behind us. The hooded man was getting closer. Luke grabbed my wrist aggressively and forced us out of the speeder onto our feet. We ran in the throbbing heat. I took a short glance behind my shoulder, and Luke noticed.

"Kat! Don't look behind! Keep giving it your all!" I'm not sure how he said all that when we were supposedly out of breath. Luke pulled me through alleys, ditches, random tents, and just about the whole city before we found a stopping point in an abandoned hut, now used for storage, and collapsed to our knees. Our breathing was heavy, but we tried to keep it on a low so whoever was chasing us couldn't hunt us down by the sound of our breath. Luke sat me up against a wall, but I was unable to focus on anything. I could barely see, my eyes were blacking out. My head felt as if it had a concussion. A bead of sweat dripped from my forehead into my right eye, I yelled in pain.

"Kat, Kat, Kat! You're fine sweet pea, just breathe. Focus on the movements of your chest and the sound of my voice." The only thing I could focus my hearing on was my heart, pounding for a break. After a minute of recovering, I looked at Luke, he was suffering just as bad as I was.

"Luke... thank you for saving me out there. I couldn't have found safety as fast as you, or even ran as fast without you." I looked through his sparkling blue eyes, now bloodshot from the salty sweat from his forehead.

"Kat, I've wanted to tell y-," Luke's words were cut off by a shadow appearing through the curtain hiding us from the rest of the city. I looked to my right, and there it was. The shape of the hooded figure, standing right behind a surface of fabric that covered the hut.

I'm so sorry I haven't published anything in forever! Don't wanna sound basic, but life caught up to me. Despite all this, happy new year :) xoxo
