❝ THERE'S THIS GUY ❞
CHAPTER TWO ✎Its finally my favorite day of the week, Saturday. My best friend, Lanie, and I have plans to get coffee and breakfast together this morning.
I sipped on my latte, almost burning my mouth. "How have things been? How's work?" Lanie asked. I set my coffee down, wiping my lips. "Everything's great. It's slow, and a little stressful, but other than that, things are fine. What about you?" I asked. She chuckled and looked down.
I furrowed my eyes brows in confusion but smiled at the same time. "There's this guy," she said. I gasped immediately and she smiled widely. "No fucking way! Who?" I asked, very happy for her. Lanie hasn't had much luck in relationships since her ex-boyfriend left her two years ago. They were together for over a year before he up and left for another girl.
My heart lit up with happiness, she seems so excited. "His name is Gage. He's super nice, he's a photographer! I hope you like him." I smiled widely at her, and she returned it. Moments later, the waitress came out with our food. I didn't hesitate to dig in. I was hungry from not eating the night before.
"So, are you hanging out with any boys yet?" She asked with her eyebrows raised. I smiled and slightly laughed. I took a sip of water before letting out a long sigh. She turned her head, still looking at me. "What the fuck happened now?" I laughed but told her nothing had happened. "There's this guy, he's so hot. I really like him, and I see him every day, but I've never said anything to him before." She looked at me with a smirk. "Who is he?" she asks.
I put my cup down, finishing the last of my latte. I shifted in my seat, feeling anxious. "Come on, who is he?" I sighed, letting my head hang low. "Ethan Dolan." She was silent as my head raised to lock eyes with hers. "I have no idea who that is. Who is he?" She asked. I was happy that she didn't know who he was. She would laugh and tell me I didn't have a chance.
"He goes to my school, I see him when I walk to work every day and sometimes on campus. I'm pretty sure he's a junior." I explained. She licked her lips and sighed, looking around. "Sorry, hun. I don't really know what to tell you except to talk to him." I nodded, I understood why she wouldn't know what to say. There isn't much to say. We chatted for another hour, and at around one o'clock, I paid for both of our meals, and we bid our goodbyes until tonight. I'm walking to her house to meet Gage and watch movies with the two of them.
After she dropped me off at home, I went inside and got changed into some more comfortable clothes. I laid down in bed and turned on the television. I watched a little bit more of "You" before drifting to sleep.
I woke up hours later to the sound of my phone. I reached over my bed, straining my side. I picked it up and saw that it was almost eight o'clock. I shot up out of bed and cursed to myself. I was thirty minutes late. I decided my flare leggings and air forces were okay for this occasion, even though I have to walk three blocks in the cold at eight o'clock. As I was walking, I realized that I didn't reply to Lanie, as she had been the reason I even woke up. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it.
where are you?
Delivered at 7:46 pmi'm so sorry, lanie. i was sleeping but i'm on my way.
Read at 8:13 pmI didn't receive a response. I figured she was probably upset, seeing I was supposed to be meeting a potential boyfriend and she wanted to make a good impression for both her and I. Speed walking, I was very cold because it was probably about forty degrees. But I had finally made it to Lanie's apartment. I could already sense the tension before I even entered her hallway. When Gage leaves, she'll probably throw a fit at me. It'll blow over within ten minutes and I'll most likely just stay the night at her place unless Gage stays over. I approached her door, and then opened it. There they both sat, cuddled up next to each other on the couch with the tv on. She looks at me with an upset expression, but she's trying not to laugh.
"You're a mess." She says, referring to my hair from the wind. I glare at her, and she smirks. I shake my head. "You're a bitch." She laughs before the two of them stand up as I take my coat off. "I know."
