BLUE SKIES AND NICE GUYS
CHAPTER TWELVE

It was a beautiful morning. Clouds scattered, blue sky, and rays of sunshine danced all around me. I made a cup of coffee and sat down in my small chair. I stared out of the window at the busy street. I had to work soon, but I needed a little bit of time to just relax. I began thinking about Ethan. I smiled instantly, picturing his bright eyes and beautiful smile. I had the urge to call him, but I figured he was sleeping at the time. It was about nine in the morning, and I was too nervous to wake him up that early.

I stood up from my chair and walked into my kitchen. I turned the faucet on and rinsed my coffee cup before setting it down in the sink. I rested both of my hands on the surface of the counter and let my weight fall onto it. I was becoming stressed. I was tired of having to wake up early just to clock in and set up shop in my office, only to wait another three hours for any customers to call. I had no choice, though. I made decent money in my current line of work. I couldn't quit, especially when I had to pay for school, which I also had to go to that day and for the rest of the week.

I stood up fully from leaning on the sink and went into my bedroom. I changed into some work pants and a dark orange blouse. I slipped my flats on and did my hair and makeup. I would say I looked nice considering I didn't try that hard. I put my jacket on, pulling my hair out from underneath it and grabbed my house keys and purse. I opened the front door, locking it behind me. I turned back around, only to be surprised by a familiar car and man standing outside waiting for me.

"Good morning, darling. Can I drive you to work this morning?" I smiled widely and looked down. I walked down the steps of my townhouse, and he embraced me into a hug. "Of course." I replied as he held me. I pulled away and he opened the passenger side door. I thanked him and got in, closing it behind me.

He got in on the other side, turning the key in the ignition. He looked behind him in the rear-view mirror before safely pulling away from the curb. my hands intertwined themselves and rested on my lap. He noticed my unusual sense of quietness and unraveled my hands from each other and replaced my right hand with his. I smiled slightly at his gentle touch.

Who would think things would go like this? I used to see him and wish he'd acknowledge that I was even alive, and now, I'm holding his hand in his car on my way to work. I looked over at him, seeing a smirk placed on his face. I furrowed my eyebrows and smiled slightly, "What?" He looked back at me with his brows raised and a smile crept onto his face.

"What's the smirk for?" I asked curiously. He shook his head and turned back to the road as if I hadn't said a word.

"I'm just happy that you're here," He said "That's all. I like spending time with you, Beck." I blushed and looked down, "I'm glad I'm here, too." He smiled and brought my hand up to his lips, leaving a sweet kiss upon it.

Within a few minutes we were at the dealership. I stepped out of the car, and he did as well. He walked over to me and kissed my cheek, hugging me tightly as he did.

"Have a good day. I'll be here when you're done." He said as he pulled away. I thanked him and went inside with a wide smile plastered on my face. Four coworkers that were already there noticed my unusual attitude and asked what had been going on.

"It's just been a good day."
