❝ ARE YOU NERVOUS? ❞
CHAPTER FOUR ✎Gage talked to Ethan about meeting a girl and convinced him to go on a date. I had a gut feeling he wasn't going to like me. I hope I like him, too.
Lanie was already at my house helping me decide what to wear. She's into beauty and fashion, so I needed her help. I had already picked out two dresses to choose from, I just needed her opinion on which one to wear. I slipped on the tight, black dress. It fit me perfectly and looked very nice. Lanie agreed as well.
"Oh my god! You have to wear that one!" She exclaimed. I laughed and agreed.
"There's no point in trying on the other one, just leave it." She said as she pointed to the bathroom.
"Let's go, I have to do your hair and makeup." She insisted. I nodded and we went into my bathroom. I held still as she applied makeup to my face, "Gage told me Ethan doesn't date." She blurted out. "What? Then what am I getting ready for?" I asked, my heart racing.
"He said Ethan knows you and wants to meet you," I couldn't believe what Lanie had just said to me. Ethan knows me? He wants to meet me? My head was spinning trying to figure out how he would know me. I didn't think he even noticed me walking by. I explained to Lanie that I've never spoken to Ethan and there's no way he's thinking of the same person. In the end, I looked really nice. I was finally ready to talk to the person I've wanted for a very long time. I was nervous, but more excited than anything.
"I feel creepy for this. Like what did he exactly say to Ethan? Was he like, "there's this girl who's has a crush on you and I think you should go out with her," or what?" I asked Lanie. She rolled her eyes and continued driving.
"No, he said, "you should go on a date with this really nice girl I know." I was relieved. I pulled down the mirror on the visor of the car to take one last look at myself as we pulled up to the restaurant.
"Stop, you look amazing. Now, go get your man!" She said excitedly. I laughed at her and turned around to face her in the backseat, thanking her.
I stepped out of the Uber Lanie ordered us and pulled my dress down slightly, feeling it tighten around my legs. My black heels hit the ground with a loud sound each step I took. My hands were sweaty, and now that I was walking up the small staircase to meet him, I was more than nervous. I kept walking until I pulled the door open, letting the warm air blow against me.
"Hi. I'm meeting someone?" I explained. The waitress smiled, nodded, and typed away at her computer.
"Last name?" I didn't know whose name to say, so I said both.
"Dolan, or Primeux. I didn't make the reservation." She nodded and typed something else in. She nodded and told me to follow her. I felt nauseous, like I could throw up at any second. I was sweaty as hell. I took deep breaths and continued to walk, trailing behind her.
We turned a corner and then he came into sight. He was dressed in a dark blue, almost black, suit. He looked so good. My heart pounded against my chest, loud enough for me to hear it. I walked up to the table, and he stood up. He hugged me, putting his right hand on the small of my back. I tensed up and my breath hitched, his hands felt so good on me.
"Hey Beck." He said quietly in my ear. I somehow managed to say hello back. He chuckled at my quiet tone. I went to sit down, and he did the same, across from me. I set my hands on top of each other on my lap. He smirked and licked his lips.
"How are you?" He asked. I broke my stare and looked down. I looked back up as I responded.
"I'm good, thank you. How are you?" I asked. He smiled and nodded.
"I'm good. You seem tense, are you nervous?" He asked. He read me, as if I was a book. I smiled and bit my lip, feeling slightly less nervous.
"Yeah, a little." I laughed. He chuckled and lifted his left eyebrow. He stared into my eyes, and I did the same. He was so intimidating. I thought he'd be more of a soft guy, but he's intimidating. Our stares were broken as our server had come to our table to take our orders.
