A MAGICIAN NEVER REVEALS HIS SECRETS
CHAPTER ELEVEN

I stepped out of the vehicle and waited for the sound of Lanie's door to shut, but it didn't. I furrowed my eyebrows and turned around. She locked the doors, smiled, and waved. My eyes went wide as she put the car in reverse and backed out of the parking space. She drove off, leaving me by myself.

A surge of pure anger overcame me. I couldn't believe she left me with no explanation. I ran my hand through my hair and turned on my heels. I figured since I was there, I might as well get some food. As I turned around, I bumped into someone. I looked up quickly and apologized.

To my surprise, it was Ethan. My jaw dropped for a second, surprised to see him. I smiled and stepped back quickly. "You're cute when you're pissed," he said with a smirk. I shook my head and looked down at the ground to hide my blushing.

"Thanks," I said sarcastically. "What're you doing here?" He smirked again and raised an eyebrow. It then clicked, he somehow got in touch with Lanie and set this up. I squinted my eyes and opened my mouth, obviously catching on.

"I just decided to pull a little prank on you." We both laughed as he grabbed my hand. He was dressed in a dark grey sweatshirt with a pair of black jeans and his Doc Martins. He looked handsome, as usual. His hair looked so soft; the long locks hung over his face carelessly.

Ethan let go of my hand and quickly grabbed the door handle, swinging it open. I thanked him and entered the restaurant with him trailing close behind.

"So, tell me. How did you set up this "prank?" with Lanie?" I asked, smiling a little. He smirked and raised an eyebrow.

"A magician never reveals his secrets." He grabbed his menu from the table and held it over his face, completely blocking my view of him. I sighed deeply and grabbed mine as well. I searched it for something that sounded good, but all of it did.

"This all sounds so good. I don't know what to pick." He chuckled lowly and nodded.

"Yeah, this place is great. I always get their pizza, though." He said as he set the menu down, never once breaking eye contact with me. I smirked.

"I guess I'll go with pizza, then." He smiled and nodded, then adjusted his wristwatch. It was matte black with golden rims, looked expensive.

"That's a cool watch, I like it." I complimented. He smiled widely and thanked me. I nodded and smiled.

We spent the rest of the day together. He took me on a walk through the city, then brought me back to his house where we sat and watched movies. It was a great day.
