❝ PLANS & WORRIES ❞
CHAPTER SEVEN ✎I was awoken by the sound of my phone ringing. I quickly reached over to the nightstand and grabbed it off of my nightstand. Disappointment rushed through me as it was only Lanie.
"Hello?" I said, waiting for a response. I sat up and threw my legs over the side of my bed, rubbing my tired eyes.
"Hey. Gage and I are going to go see a movie if you want to come with us, you can bring Ethan if you aren't too scared to ask." I laughed and told her I would love to go. I hung up and began getting ready. I put on some makeup, threw on some jeans and a sweater, and I was ready to go. I waited for her to tell me she was here, and when she was, I left.
"So, we're going to go see-" she was interrupted by the ringing of my phone. I picked it up, seeing an unknown number. My heart raced faster, and I could feel it beating through my chest. I turned down the car radio all the way down and answered.
"Hello?" I said, hoping it was him. I could hear a deep voice lightly chuckle before greeting me. I could sense the smirk plastered on his face through the phone.
"Hi, Beck. How are you?" My eyes widened and I stuttered. I looked at Lanie and smiled widely.
"Hi Ethan, I-I'm doing fine, what about you? How is everything?" I asked. I pushed a long strand of my brown hair behind my ear, something I did out of nervousness.
"Nervous, again?" He laughed. I felt blood rush to my face. I laughed nervously.
"Reading me, again?" I said with a sudden burst of confidence. Him and I both laughed. Lanie looked at me with a waiting-out-of-excitement expression. I held my finger up to her, telling her to wait quietly.
"You caught me. Now, I called to ask what you're doing tonight. Any plans?" He asked as I bit my lip.
"Uh, I'm not doing anything tonight," Lanie looked at me with wide eyes and her mouth dropped. She smiled widely and bit her lip to contain her excitement for me.
"Perfect. I'll be at your house at seven o'clock. Wear something casual, babe." He hung up before I could say anything else. My mouth hung agape with a slight smile.
"Beck! Oh my god! Please tell me that was Ethan!" She exclaimed. I nodded slowly and smiled widely. "Who else?" I said with a light laugh.
"That's so awesome, B. I'm really excited for you. Just be careful, remember what Gage said. Don't get too close." I remembered what he said, making my smile fade.
"I think everything will be okay. Just keep it in mind," she tried to comfort me. I smiled slightly and looked straight ahead at the road in front of me.
After the long movie, Lanie escorted the both of us back to my house, where she helped me get ready for my date.
"He said to dress casual, so, sweatshirt and jeans? Leggings?" I asked, unsure. She twisted her lips to the side, thinking.
"Just wear what you're wearing now, it's really cute." She said with a sweet smile. I laughed and went into my bathroom to do my makeup.
"Gorgeous!" She yelled as I came out of the bathroom. I thanked her, and we waited for the time to come. We still had two hours left until he'd be there, so we decided on watching a movie to pass time.
"I'm nervous." I said bluntly. She looked at me and flashed a sincere smile. I looked down, thinking about him, what Gage had said, how things will go.
"He likes you. I know he does. Don't stress what Gage said. If Ethan really is what Gage said he is, then fuck him, find someone better. Just, be yourself. Charm him. Keep him wondering." She said. I looked back at her and nodded. She smiled and rested her hand on mine, making me feel less nervous.
"Alright," I moved a strand of hair out of my face and kept watching, removing the thought of Ethan's possible bad reputation.
"I've got this." I whispered to myself.
