Hailey's POV
I was standing in my back yard, staring out at the creek when I heard the car pull up. I'd been lost in my thoughts, much like I had been for the past couple of days, when I heard a familiar voice that immediately put a smile on my face.
"Blue eyes!" He yelled as I turned to see Niall making his way toward me, a huge smile on his face. "Get over here and hug me."
I ran over to him, wrapping my arms around his neck as he hugged me tightly. I was so happy to see him after the week I'd had, and I'd missed hanging out with him, our random calls and texts just hadn't been the same. Besides, he was probably the only person who knew Harry as closely as I did and I guess part of me felt like I'd feel closer to Harry somehow with Niall around.
"Niall." I sighed as I stood there hugging him. "I'm so glad you're here."
He pulled away to look at me, smiling at me even though his eyes held sympathy in them.
"How you doin?" He asked, his tone letting me know he'd obviously seen Harry and knew we hadn't parted on the best terms.
"I'm okay, just been looking forward to your visit." I smiled, doing my best to not let him know just how difficult the past few days had been. "Come on, I've got snacks."
"And that's why I love ya." He chuckled as he threw his arm around my neck and we headed inside.
We headed inside, Niall taking a seat at the table while I grabbed the random stuff I'd prepared for him out of the fridge, as we talked and caught up on various things. He told me all about some of the stuff he'd been up to since he left, explaining what his life would look like once his album came out. The smile hadn't left my face as I watched the sparkle in his eye as he talked about it, and I caught myself hoping that one day Harry might be that happy talking about his album too.
"Soooo...." He said as I sat down at the table next to him. "Did you listen to it?"
He looked slightly nervous to hear what I'd thought about the copy of his album he'd sent me. I figured if I was gonna be shooting covers for it I should get a feel for what it sounded like, what the emotions were that came along with it, and I'd been listening to it for three days on repeat.
"Of course I did." I smiled.
"And...?"
"Well, first of all. I need to know who broke your heart so I can kick her ass." I laughed.
"Wouldn't you like to know." He smirked.
"It's good, Niall. It's really, really good. I love it." I said sincerely as I reached over and put my hand over his.
"Really?" He asked, hope in his voice.
"Really. I've had it on repeat since I got it. Honestly, it's kinda been helping me through the past couple of days." I sighed. "You should be really proud of it."
"What songs do you like the most?" He asked, his eyes lighting up as he awaited my response.
"I like them all, honestly. I think right now Flicker just gets me, I can't listen to it without crying. I jam out to Slow Hands in the car, I love the melody of Paper Houses." I said honestly. "Oh and I love This Town, too."
"It's funny...I got the idea for This Town while I was here." He laughed lightly. "I started thinking about small towns, and how bad it sucks to leave someone behind...and then that reminded me of someone and I just kinda wrote it down."
"Why do I get the feeling that you've been hung up on someone for a really long time?" I asked, a small smirk playing at my lips.
"I dunno. I guess with this career you sacrifice a lot. There's certain people who just come into your life that you tend to think of when you're alone, when you think about what might have been. I guess when you're constantly coming and going, a lot of things just feel unfinished." He shrugged.
