(Warning: INTENSE Nightmare Before Christmas references incoming)
From a young age, Jared had loved playing piano. He enjoyed to let himself go and allow his hands and heart to take over, listening to the beautiful sounds of the keys. It calmed him down, took him away from fears and insecurities momentarily. Another thing that could do this was Evan. Evan was so.. perfect.
His dirty blonde, soft hair.. his gorgeous blue-grey eyes.. his beautiful smile.. his adorable laugh...
"I am HELLA gay." Jared said aloud to himself.
He smiled and got up off his bed. He walked down the stairs to his piano, one of the things he loved. Like he loved Evan.
He sat down and began to play and sing softly to a favorite song of his.
"I sense there's something in the wind.. That feels like tragedy's at hand... and though I'd like to stand by him.. can't shake this feeling that I have.." He closed his eyes, allowing his hands and heart to take over, as he perfectly played and sang each note and word.
"And does he no-tice.. my feelings for him.."
It seems he finished, with the final "For I am not the one.." in mere seconds, though he had been playing for about 2 minutes. There was another song, short yet beautiful, from the same movie that Jared had been learning. The other song from that movie had to have a partner, for it was more complicated. He needed someone to play with, though he didn't know anyone else learning that song. Or piano. Or... so he thought.
At the house of the other boy, his mother was out of town. He wasn't sleeping, so he went downstairs and opened it.. his piano. He sat down and began to play. Young Evan Hansen.. the man of Jared's dreams.. knew the other half of the song they both needed a partner for.
Evan decided he'd switch to band for his elective. Woodshop is boring anyway.
He got there early and nobody was there. Except for a lonely boy at the piano. Brown hair, black glasses, wearing a green shirt. But Evan didn't fully see his face. All Evan cared about.. was the song he was playing. He heard the boy sing the first few words.
"My dearest friend, if you don't mind.. I'd like to join you by your side." Evan sat down next to the boy and began to play the other part and sing the lines sung by both Jack and Sally.
"Where we could gaze into the stars.. and sit toge-ther.. now and fore-ver.. it's plain, as anyone can see... We're simply meant to be.."
They finished and looked to the person next to them.
"Evan?"
"Jared?"
They gasped.
"I thought I was the only one who played piano."
"So did I."
Jared smiled. "Wanna play it again?"
Evan nodded. Jared started off with Jack's lines, delicately playing the keys to match each word. "My dearest friend, if you don't mind.. I'd like to join you by your side."
Then Evan came in. "Where we can gaze into the stars.. and sit toge-ther.. now and fore-ver.. it's plain as anyone can see... we're simply meant to be..."
Jared and Evan looked at each other again. They looked into each other's eyes. They then both moved in... and kissed. For about 5 seconds, then pulled away.
Suddenly, they heard claps and a few "awwww"s behind them. They turned around.
The class had arrived and was clapping. A few girls and the band teacher were the source of the "awwww"s.
Evan and Jared smiled, stood up, and bowed.
Then kissed again because the entire class was chanting "KISS! KISS! KISS!" One girl named Cj was screaming "KISS OR THE TALL ONE GETS IT!!" And preparing to choke a tall blonde boy.
The girl let go once they kissed.
"Simply meant to be..."
