The day had seemed magical.

It seemed like it wasn't even real that multiple times throughout the celebratory day Jacob had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't ten feet deep in some drug induced dream. It was a beautiful day in Newport Beach, not too cold and not too hot for a late November wedding. The venue was absolutely huge, seemingly almost too big for the family's less than 200 people wedding. When Carrie had told the boys it would be a small wedding, Jacob was wondering if he himself would even be invited, but when he saw an invitation list of over 200, and a confirmation guestlist of nearly 190, Jacob was blown away and thought he might need to reevaluate his idea of a small wedding. In Mike's handbook anyway.

Speaking of, Mike had not been here to play. Jacob's jaw nearly fell to the floor when he and Troye arrived at the venue Friday afternoon and checked into their room at the resort, which Jacob had felt like was bigger than his college campus. And it definitely was. He and Troye definitely got lost at least four times on their first night. He was caught somewhere between wanting to cry because Mike was so good to his mother and that she deserved this so much and being jealous that his mom was truly living the life of a true queen.

He was slowly getting used to the fact that things were changing. His mom wouldn't need him around all the time anymore like she used to. When Jacob first started college she was always asking him to come home for the weekends or would even offer to pay for his gas money if he could make it back for a family dinner every once in awhile. He knew that his mom valued family and that not having two bickering kids around anymore had been a difficult transition for her. That's why Jacob always did his best to try and meet her in the middle. He may have pulled a few too many all nighters getting his homework done because he couldn't resist spending his weekend at home with the two women in his life catching up because family was fucking important. He may have skipped one too many lectures so that he could catch up on sleep and he may have worked a few too many shifts at work for his own healthy mental sanity just so he could save up a little extra to get his mom some nice Christmas and birthday gifts that he knows she would never buy for herself. But it was all completely worth it. It was his family and he loved them with all of his heart.

But their family was expanding now. Carrie had given everything she had to Jacob and Angie and now it was time to add to their family for herself. It had taken nearly 21 years for her to finally find someone perfect for her. Someone she could give her time to, because she didn't have kids to take care of all the time anymore. She didn't spend mornings screaming at Jacob to wake up and get to school, she didn't have to spend nights doing loads of laundry and doing huge trips to the grocery store to satisfy her children's messy habits and big stomachs. Even though it had been quite a minute since Angie and Jacob ever needed a babysitter, Carrie felt strange just leaving them at home while going on a date. She would always be too nervous, or she'd miss her kids too much. She didn't feel right sitting in a fancy restaurant with a guy she didn't feel a spark with, when she felt much more comfortable at home eating pizza on the couch while watching The Bachelor with her children. She would miss Angie's heartfelt remarks about the contestants and Jacob's snide comments about how the girls were always trying way too hard and the whispered remarks under his breath about how hot the guys were. None of that was reality anymore. Instead, Angelina was moved out living with her husband attending community college and Jacob was over an hour away at UCLA, working two jobs while taking six classes at a time and driving himself absolutely crazy. But even with all that, somehow he still found time to fall in love along the way.

His mind instantly drifted back to the blue eyed boy across the room.

Jacob knows his family is expanding in more ways than one. He knows he is just as responsible for falling so in love that it hurts, as his mother is. He knows that even after less than a year of knowing him, he's found the love of his life. He might still be too scared to tell Troye that out loud, terrified of scaring him away with how much love he has for the fragile and scarred boy, but he knows it's true. He knows he would be heartbroken to walk down the aisle to anyone who isn't Troye Sivan Mellet and that that is simply not plausible to him. He's already given Troye every little piece of him and he doesn't think he'd be able to bare a heartbreak coming from him. It scares him to death every time he has an oh shit! moment where he realizes how gone he is for him. But deep down, Jacob knows that Troye is just as attached to him as he is. He knows it hasn't come easy to the sad boy, that nothing of this journey of theirs has been easy, but they've come so far and holy shit if they don't get married someday he might just throw up.
