"So, of course I did the motherly thing and picked her up but let me tell you it was not a fun experience, and I hope I don't have to do it again anytime soon..." Laurelle explained with a sour chuckle and a slight eyeroll.
Troye laughed at his mom over facetime, while she explained her story of the night before and how she was forced to pick up a totally wasted Sage at a party at two in the morning. It was seven in the evening in Los Angeles, with Troye sitting at the breakfast bar in his kitchen waiting for Jacob to come home from school. It's been a lonely day as Thursdays were Jacob's most packed day and that means Troye didn't see him until nearly 8 at night. His boredom led to a facetime call to him mom, who he knew would probably be well up and awake.
"I can't believe Sage got that drunk! Even when we would go out she was always the one making sure I was okay and didn't get too drunk," Troye said with a laugh as he played with the pasta that was sitting in the bowl in front of him. He had got up the energy and drive today to actually make something for dinner instead of the usual ignoring the fact that he should be eating something and then Jacob texting him if he's eaten, Troye saying no, and then Jacob saying "well fine then I'm bringing us something and we can eat together" and then Jacob wasting his hard earned money on something to eat for Troye.
So it was a real surprise, even to himself, that he got himself to actually making a meal, as was the load of laundry that Troye did earlier in the day. It seemed like things were getting easier and for once, Troye genuinely believed it. And when Troye opted to a facetime call to his mum rather than another nap, he felt like high fiving himself.
"I'm glad she's having fun though mum, don't be too hard on her. She deserves it," Troye said with a small smile.
"I feel like we all deserve a little fun lately Tokky. You especially. Are you? Having fun?" Laurelle asked worriedly.
"I am. I think so," Troye said softly, twirling a bit of spaghetti around his fork.
Troye had finally talked about Jacob in full detail, explaining how they met and how he found out about Connor (although he did leave the fact that he had been making daily graveyard visits out of the fact, he just couldn't bare to see more worry on his mums face). He (very reluctantly) explained why he had felt the way he felt about Jacob probably leaving him and wanting someone else to which Laurelle was simply flabbergasted about. She couldn't believe her son could think such negative things about himself. Especially one that she saw so high up on a pedestal for all he's accomplished in his short time. It took some working out, but finally he was laughing with his mum again and had moved onto his other siblings.
"How's dad?" Troye asked as he pulled his legs up onto the stool and hugged them to his chest.
"He's working his little heart away!" Laurelle laughed. "Got up extra early to go to the office everyday this week."
"I miss him," Troye said with a small smile.
"I guess you just gotta come back and visit again," Laurelle said with a laugh.
"Mum I was literally there like a week ago. Flights to Melbourne aren't exactly convenient you know."
"I know I know. But eventually okay? And You have to bring Jacob," she threatened.
"Jacob would like that. We'll have to wait until he's done with school for the summer, which is in a few weeks I think, but he starts the fall semester like, right after that so..." Troye sighed. "I think he only has like a week off."
"He's a busy boy," his mum laughed.
"He is," Troye agreed. "Speaking of, um, I'm meeting his family like, tomorrow."
