Chapter 26

Brandon’s Point of View

 A week ago was the day we found out good, and bad news.

Flashback

“Family meeting!” moms yell upstairs and we all meet in the living room. I get downstairs and see Callie and Jude sitting in the living room with moms. I smile at Callie and I go sit next to her and Jude.

“To what do we owe you attention?” Mariana asks as she sits down.

“Well we wanted to talk about Callie and Jude, and what will be happening to them.”  Mom (Stef) tells us. I feel Callie tense up next to me so I slip my hand into hers.

“Okay what is happening?” I ask curious.

“Well, they aren’t leaving us.” Mom (Lena) says and we all get big smiles on our faces. “We are going to foster them.” Everyone is cheering and is happy except Callie and I. We have shocked looks on our faces.

“Yay! I am getting a sister!” Mariana squeals. “And a brother of course! But I already have two of those!” she hugs Jude and they start laughing. Callie and I just sit there frozen.

“Okay well we need to talk to Callie and Brandon alone, so give us a moment.” they nod and go upstairs talking excitedly.

“Well…” Mom (Stef) starts.

“We can’t be together, can we?” Callie asks with tears streaming down her face. Moms just slightly shake their head, signaling that we can’t be together. Callie stands straight up and walks out of the house. I start to follow her but Lena stops me.

“I will get her.” Lena goes after Callie and I stand there hopeless. 

“It’s for the best B.” Mom starts telling me. That’s when I think about it through. I start to feel tears rolling down my face. 

End of Flashback

I haven’t talked to Callie since then. When ever I try to someone is there to tell me that I can’t see her. They moved me in with my dad too. I think that they are trying to separate us so we won’t get back together but I have a huge whole in my chest. She didn’t go to school. I try to talk to Mariana and she just changes the subject. I really just need to talk to her. I have decided to do what ever will make her happy.

 I’ve gotten a total of 7 hours of sleep in 7 days. My dad says that I need to just sleep. He pulls me from school and locks me in the house, but all I can think about is Callie and what she is thinking about. 

My dad just left for the night shift at the station to I am home alone watching movies. It reminds me so much of what Callie and I did together. Anytime her mom was out late for work I would go to her house, or she would come to mine, and we would watch movies all night! I miss that!

A couple of minutes into The Great Gastby I get a call from Mariana.

Phone call

Brandon- Hello?

Mariana- Where are you?

Brandon- At my dad’s, why?

Mariana- I need your help.

Brandon- with what?

Mariana- I might have let Callie go to a party and might have let her get drunk and now she won’t move.
