The world felt a little darker now. Time now seemed to weigh meaningless, and the bustle of life and the light of day dimmed out and turned senseless.

Sans kept his head hung low, and waited silently. He couldn't hear much now, which was strange because he never really had ears at all. The walls around him were soundproof, and helped hide what they kept inside. Time passed inevitably, and people just walked past him, leaving Sans to his empty thoughts.

A door opened opposite him, and a stranger dressed in white robes confronted him slowly. His voice was quiet, but the doctor didn't speak at first. Sans removed the hands from his face and looked up, looking allergic to any emotion. "Hey, listen..." His accent was American. Sans adjusted his eyes. The corridor was painted a shiny white and had lines of blazing lights covered on the ceiling. It seemed like a decently well-kept place, and smelt like a constant spray of air-freshener was drowning out the whole hospital. "Well..." Sans couldn't pronounce the question because of his unsuspecting croaky voice. "...Everything went to... plan." The doctor put aside the sheets of paper he was clutching.

Two other people emerged from the room, and they swiftly walked away, almost hiding behind everyone else. Sans felt concerned, but the doctor that still stood in front of him asked him to follow. Sans did as he was told and he walked quietly through the pale hallway. Then they both stopped at a door.

The doctor opened the door, and Sans finally saw Toriel laying there, almost looking like a corpse. He stepped over, and she opened one eye at the sound of his feet. He tried to smile, but the cold AC kept his feet still. "Hey..." His voice was calm and quiet, unsuspecting to himself. Toriel sat up and huffed. She had messy fur and she looked awfully tired. She blinked slowly a few times and focused her sight on the slowly approaching Sans.

"Mmm... Hello, Sans..." She groaned. It had been a while since Sans had seen a post-birth Toriel, but it wasn't like he missed it. "Well, where's our kid?" Sans asked. Then Toriel just started laughing, her paws on her cheeks and eyes. It took her a minute to calm down, and Sans didn't even know what she was giggling about. "Kid..." Toriel broke down into a chuckle. "It's being weighed, dear..." She yawned inaudibly and Sans came closer towards her. She hugged him with the rest of her strength, and Sans felt her whole weight fall into him. "Y'know... I'm really... h..." Sans coughed up letters. "What?" Toriel asked, lying back on her pillow. "...Happy." Sans looked down at the chrome flooring. "I am... too. Really..." Toriel rubbed her eyes and huffed.

"Oh yeah... Are you alright? Sorry... for not asking, I've just-"

"I'm fine. It... will take a few weeks to adjust... but, if you love your... job, you would be willing... to do it again." Toriel referred to her 'job' as being a mother, not just a teacher. "Same here..." Sans spoke. They both talked for a little while, until a nurse walked through the cyan blue door.

Toriel's eyes were glued to the baby in her arms. "So, it's a girl?" Sans looked over. Toriel only nodded, and became slightly emotional. Her face was similar to her mother's, with stubby beginnings of her horns and damp floppy ears from being bathed. Her face was fast asleep, but showed what looked like ribcage bones coming across her cheeks, like a tiger and its black markings. She had a skull around the upper half of her face, like Amelia, and had softly closed, and furry white eyelids when she slept soundly. She had other bones protecting her body below her head, but most of it wasn't seen due to the clothes she was wrapped in.

"Well?" Toriel looked over at Sans, who was admiring her daughter. "God... it's beautiful. Can I hold her?" Sans asked politely. Toriel sat up a bit on her hospital bed. "Of course deary." Toriel carefully placed the newborn in his arms; and Sans felt the fragility from her. "Do you remember the name we chose?" Toriel looked back through her head to remember the day.

"Grace. It's was... Grace." Sans couldn't look a Toriel. "Grace. It's a fitting name, actually." Toriel smiled. "Well... welcome to the world... Grace." Sans handed her back cautiously back to her mother. "It's was so worth it, in the end... I wonder what the kids are going to think?" She thought. Sans did too, but could only imagine was everyone sat on one armchair and watching Grace sleep snug in Toriel's arms. It seemed likely.

Sans felt better now, but his fear of Asgore was still somewhat there. Surely, it's over? That's what he thought.
