Hallowed Vanguard

The siege of Aiglasas

Gilbert stood there bewildered, for outside the city walls was a sight dug straight from the black year itself the monster horde of the great mountain were ready to tear Aiglasas down.
The monsters were well equipped too with trebuchets,catapults,ballista, and even siege towers. But even with there large numbers that outnumbered the city guard 10 to 1 Gilbert knew this was only a fraction of their numbers. But they were not attacking, "they're not attacking" yelled one of the guard it was like they were waiting for something, or someone.
   Gilbert then saw a figure on top of a horse with armor so dark it seemed to absorb the sunlight which was quickly fading. Gilbert knew what they were doing they were waiting for nightfall when they would have the advantage. In light of this Gilbert decided to make the first move and told the guards to line up the ballista to fire on the Shadow Knight and for the archers to focus their fire on him too. As their projectiles launched towards the Knight Gilbert was certain that killing him would help sway the battle in the city's favor. But before they could connect with the Knight he vanished horse and all and the projectiles launched into the horde killing and wounding hundreds of the monsters but still not enough as Gilbert was about to give the order to reload and fire again a sword was pushed through the back of his neck by no other than the Black Knight himself and as the guards were in shock of what just happened and as Gilbert's body rolled of the edge of the wall, the Knight let out a roar in a deep raspy inhuman voice, "ATTACK LEAVE NO HUMAN ELF OR DWARF ALIVE!!" and the monsters rushed forward with a fury, war machines firing and towers moving forward the battle had begun!
      As the city guard rushed him the Black Knight vanished again, but this time he would not return his job was over. The monsters quickly rushed the wall even though the guards put in a valiant effort it was not enough they knew they would lose the battle,so they sent out an elite group of knights to evacuate all citizens they could. Even though this may save some the majority of the city wouldn't have time to escape.
