Hallowed Vanguard

Greenhold Mages pt 1

William sat there on his horse, With Shania, Erick, and Calil next to him as they looked back at the city of FayHallow. They turn East and start to head towards Greenhold. The province of Greenhold was a weeks ride away, and with the monster horde back the group no longer have to deal with thieves, and bandits. But instead with the monster horde itself themselves. William can't help but feel a little uneasy, especially with what happened on his way to FayHallow.

     As they ride away from FayHallow, William grieves for his mother now a widow with her only child off on a dangerous quest to find a mythical army that may or may not even exist. But she agreed because she knew it was the only option if Ufria would survive this invasion from the monster hordes.

     The group have been traveling for about three days now luckily with out any other ambush. William sat on top of his horse, with Shania next to him and Calil and Erick behind them they were all talking and joking. While the group started arguing about what was better Pie or cake an old debate they often talk about a lot they hear barking from the woods to their right. The group stops and William and Erick jump off their horses, with their swords drawn heading into the direction the barking was coming from.

    The two boys enter the forest and they eventually come  to  a clearing where they see a Ulfrailin War dog, a massive dog that are bred and trained for the hunting of lycanthropes. This dog was sitting their ripping the throat out of a wounded werewolf than turning to a tree where William sees a body in Ranger armor leaned against the trunk blood spattered across his chest the tree and a puddle of it where he sat. William rushed forward seeing the man was still moving slightly.

      William reached the man Erick not too far away. "What happened to you?" William asked the man "I'm a ranger I came hunting this wolf with my dog, Damon here when it ambushed me I was able to fire a few arrows into it before it knocked me against this tree the Damon here seems to have finished the beast for me."the man Explained with a few coughs and wheezing in between the words he then reaches up and pats Damon on the head. "I'm not going to survive." The man says coughing some more. "We have a healer back in the road." Erick suggested. "He's too far gone even if we could get Shania here in time she's only an apprentice she can't heal him" William says dropping his head low. "It's okay, if you want to help me take care of Damon" the ranger says looking at William. "Are you sure?" William asks him as the man turns towards the dog and whispers into Damon's ear. "Yes I'm sure he'll listen to you now please take good care of him." The ranger says as he turns towards William and dies. "Thank you" William says closing the rangers eyes.

   William rose and told Erick it was time to go and as they started to walk away William let out a piercing Whistle saying "Damon heel" the war hound bounds over to William's side as they walk out of the Forrest. "Everyone meet our newest companion Damon!" Erick says gesturing to the dog smiling as they approach their friends. Shania jumps off her horse and runs over and starts to pet Damon, "he's so adorable!" She says as she hugs the dog and continues to pet his head. "Yeah he is, let's get going we have a long road ahead of us." William says as he walks towards his horse a smile on his face. Shania jumps up and goes to her horse With Damon between the two. "Just remember dog she's mine." William say looking at the dog who looks up at his new master looking happy.

The group have now entered Greenhold and now they have to make it to the mages council on the coast another two days left until they arrive at their destination William is surprised by how such a big dog could be so quiet. He thinks this as he's crouched in the grass his bow in his hands an arrow nocked as he stalks a deer not having enough food to feed them and the dog He decided to go hunting as The others set up the camp. William draws back his bow aiming it at the deer as he's about to release a rabbit runs out causing him to lose focus and the arrow flew through the air and landed in the deers leg.

        the wounded animal took a few steps and collapsed Damon without any hesitation rushed forward grabbing it by the throat and killing it then he drags the carcass to William who has him take it back to the camp where he skinned it and started to cut the meat from the bone.

  Shania helps William to take care of the deer meat cooking some over the fire for supper and feeding some to Damon. After supper the group then starts to pack up the rest of the meat along with the deer fur. They then set up for watch William taking first watch with Damon the Erick takes second watch, then Shania takes third watch and Calil takes the final fourth watch, Damon staying awake all night with each member everyone gets a two hour shift.

   At the break of day Calil tells everyone its time to wake up and the group starts to pack up their supplies and head out. The group ride for a few hours and in the distance they see a castle the home of the mages council. The mages call it simply the mages hold. As the group reach the stables they see a young woman in a set of black robes tending to a black horse with crimson eyes.

       she turns around to greet the group. "Who are you?" She asks as she eyes the group keeping her eyes on Damon. "We're from the city of FayHallow we were told to come here by the duke the monster horde is back we need to learn about the Hallowed Vanguard." William replied looking at the girl. "Very well my name is Nahomi I'll take you to the arch mages" She says, she then waits patiently by the door for the group to dismount and tie the horses up and then the group accompanied by Nahomi go to speak to the Arch mages.
