Hallowed Vanguard

The rescue

As William approached the Yang house he heard the roars of an ogre as it tried to break down the magical ward that the Yangs set to protect themselves and their house. William turned the corner to see a group of about 30 goblins 20 orcs and an ogre surrounding the Yang house all trying to break the ward, to no avail yet William could see cracks starting to form in the ward. Seeing no other option William rushed in he already cut through a few orcs and goblins before they realized what happened. When they did ten orcs broke off from the group and surrounded William one of the orcs swung his blade towards William, william sidestepped and as he was about to counter with his own blade an orc hit him upside the head with the flat of his blade. The orcs then closed in around William, debating over who gets to kill him after the debate had settled, the orc who who hit William upside the head decided he gets the kill but as he raised his sword to kill William, a throwing knife appeared in his forehead. The orcs turned around to see a dwarf carrying a sword and a few throwing knives coming towards them, it was Erick here to help William. William took this moment to take down  one of the orcs who turned just in time for William to disembowel him. Now with Erick at his side William fought with a new vigor they cut down the rest of the ten orcs and faced the rest of the horde who turned their attention to the dwarf and human who just killed ten orcs. In the distance William still heard fighting going on at the gate the city guard was holding back the majority of the horde. Erick and William steeled themselves against the ten remaining orcs, and 25 goblins while the ogre continued to try and break the ward. Shania knew looking down on the battle below that William and Erick would not win the fight they barely killed the ten orcs who were overconfident but the remaining orcs were in a blood rage, for their fallen brothers along with the goblins who weren't a challenge alone but in a large group were very dangerous. She also knew her parents could help them and if they did they might all survive, but her father, and mother were too busy trying to open a portal out of the city to listen to her and said that William and Erick were fools for putting themselves in danger. So Shania decided to do something stupid and with out another word bolted out the front door to the two boys. She knew if she put herself in danger her parents would help her so she ran to, William and Erick who were already badly injured but kept fighting through pure willpower, she used a minor ward spell exactly like the one her parents used to protect the house and attended to their wounds the best she could waiting for her parents to help. As she thought her parents didn't even notice her absence she heard thunder crack as her mother a water mage and her father a lightning mage stepped outside, they lowered the ward, and right after her mother covered the ground in water, and her father sent electricity into it. It didn't kill the monsters but stunned them then mr. Yang shouted, "get to the house now!" With that the three teenagers rushed into the Yang family where mr. and mrs. Yang instantly raised the ward back up. Mr. Yang wasted no time in yelling at his daughter telling her how stupid that was and that she could've gotten killed, asking why she would risk her life for two strangers. Shania responded with how she loved William and what happened a few months ago. After hearing Shania tell her parents about him he walked over and passionately kissed Shania right in front of her father. Before her father could say another word they heard the ogre roar in victory as the ward broke. But before the remaining monsters could attack the knights who William and Erick were originally with rushed in, finishing the goblins and orcs but while this happened the ogre broke the front of the Yang house and grabbed Shania as it picked her off the ground William felt himself get filled with rage he ran behind the ogre cutting the tendons behind its knees causing it to drop Shania and fall to its knees, William then jumped on its back and shoved his sword through the back of its head killing it. William's mother ran up to him giving him a bear hug and then, as she let him go she smacked him across the face, telling him to never run off again. William then remembered the reason he ran off in the first place he never found his father. He then proceeded to run off again this time with everyone falling behind him as he yelled, "we have to find father!" He burst through his front door and was met with a grizzly sight his father in a pool of his own blood and, a man in black armor wiping blood off his blade then vanishing. William ran to his father who was barely alive. With tears in his eyes William hugged his father one more time, his father then reached up tearing a key off the necklace he keeps around his neck Williams father then whispered in his sons ear gasping and coughing several times in between "the family sword you can't let them take it it's yours now, I love you my son."  Then he died in William's arms his mother crying in the doorway, and Shania and Erick next to him. William went down stairs unlocking the chest and pulling out his family's sword a beautiful steel blade with an ivory and leather handle and opals set in it and on the pommel, the family crest a shield with a demons head and two swords crossed behind it. They then headed towards the exit and escaped the city into the wilds of Ufria. They had to go to Fayhallow, and warn them of the coming horde.
