"I'm hungry!" Nana whined for the hundredth time that day, making her big sister, Ayaka, sigh with irritation.

Ever since the two young girls had ran away from their home in the suburbs of the city, they'd been forced to struggle sleeping without a decent roof over their head. They barely had enough money to buy anything, and they had to steal countless times from stores all around Japan. They'd gotten caught quite a few times, and they were certain that several of those times they were caught on tape. They had even threatened a cop, and swiped people's wallets. The police were looking for them, and they'd surely get arrested if they ever got caught, their parents were very poor.

"I heard you the fiftieth time, Nana-chan." Ayaka snapped. She was a thirteen year old girl with a slightly ale complexion and a round face framed with black hair. Her eyes were a bright, jade green.

"But onee-chan!" Nana complained. She was a ten year old girl a little smaller than Ayaka with chestnut brown hair tied into two tiny buns and a lighter green color to her eyes. "We didn't have any breakfast at all today!"

"Shush, Nana-chan!" Ayaka snapped once again, covering her ears. "Let me have one moment of peace, will you?!"

Nana looked at Ayaka pleadingly, who only ignored her in return.

Ayaka gazed up at the vibrant sky above. It was early in the morning. Maybe around 8:00? The early sunrise tinted the sky in a soft yellow glow, and the birds chirped happily, singing a morning tune. She happily breathed in the crisp, Autumn air as they swung on the swings in the schoolyard of an elementary school.

Nana sighed and looked up at the blurry sky above. It wasn't fair that her older sister got to see perfectly! Why couldn't Ayaka be the one with the poor eyesight? Why couldn't she just enjoy all the crystal clear colors around her?

"I don't see anything right!" Nana cried, burying her face in her hands. "I don't wanna be like this anymore! It stinks to be like this! It stinks like smelly poop!"

"I bought you glasses." Ayaka stated patiently, as if in her own world, while staring wistfully at the sky.  Nana looked up for a second to give her sister a dumb look. "Okay, technically I stole them..." She admitted, shrugging.

"They didn't work right!" Nana told her sister, her voice muffled. "Something was wrong with them, maybe they were broke."

"Maybe they just weren't the right pair for you." Ayaka said wistfully. "Besides, you got me. Isn't that much better?"

Nana hesitated, then looked up. "I think so...." She said, unsure. She looked down at her lap, just when they heard bubbly giggles break the silence.

A few girls in school uniforms came walking towards the school, smiling and talking to one another.

"Come on, Nana-chan!" Ayaka nudged her sister. "It's gotta be a school day today, someone will recognize us!"

"Wait," Nana replied, jerking her hand back from her sister. "I wanna play with somebody."

"Get up, Nana!" Ayaka yelled, tugging on her arm. She could be a real pain sometimes. "We'll play later, okay?!"

"I wanna play with someone else, I play with you all the time."

         "Nana-"

"Look!" Nana pointed in the distance, and her sister followed her gaze to a young girl with long, black ponytails surrounded by a group of other girls. She bore a hateful and hurt expression on her face, and the girls that had closed in on her began to nudge her, until it got to the point where they began pushing her around.

"Stop!" They could hear the girl's cries from the distance.

"Should we help her?" Nana asked, a desperate look on her face. "I was bullied too back when we were still in school, y'know. It's not a good thing to go through..." She wanted to help that girl, even though she had no idea who she was.

"Are you crazy, Nana-chan?!" Ayaka snapped. "Someone will help her eventually, it's her problem not ours!" But unfortunately the pain was still focused on the schoolgirl getting bullied by other girls her age.

Ayaka wanted to feel bad for her, but right now they needed to leave.

Ayaka snatched her sister's arm in her hand and unintentionally squeezed it while doing so.

"OW OW OW OW!" Nana screeched, slapping at Ayaka's hand. "That HURTS!"

"It was on accident I--" Ayaka tried to explain.

"NO!" Nana screamed, this time beating her fist against her sister's arm. Ayaka let go, clutching her arm and glaring at her little sister.

Soon the group of schoolgirls were staring at them with big eyes. And before Ayaka knew what was happening, Nana bounded towards them.

"Hey, aren't you that girl from TV?" A girl by the name of Keiko asked, pointing at Nana.

"Yeah, that's the girl!" Another girl, Amaya, said.

Nana backed up, losing all her courage and unsure what to do.

"HEY!" A voice shouted over to them, making Nana jump. A cross guard was looking right at her! "You stay where you are." He demanded sternly, taking a cell phone out of his pocket.

He's contacting the police! Ayaka thought, alarmed and scared at the same time. She darted after Nana, who was frozen to the spot with fear. She then took her hand and began to run, pulling her along.

"Come on, Nana!" She exclaimed, hearing her heart pound through her own ears.

As Nana was being pulled away by her sister, she watched the girl who had been bullied intently. Who only stared back at her in return.
