Naomi heard the sound of the elevator, and she frantically began to find some way to hide. Finally, after darting here and there feeling unsure, she quickly crawled under the table just as the elevator doors opened. Naomi held her breath and brought her knees up to her chest as she saw her parents, and the librarian stand inside the small space of the elevator and looked around while doing so. Then the elevator doors closed, and relief flooded her.

What if they call the police? She thought, crawling from under the table. I guess we'll just have to hurry...I wonder if Ayaka and Nana know the trouble I'm in...

Naomi pressed a button on the elevator, and momentarily the doors flew open and she filed inside. Where should I go? She thought. This was the highest floor, she assumed, there's three more floors. The first floor, the bottom floor under it, and the top floor which was probably under this floor. She quickly pressed the button to the top floor and waited.

Ayaka lost herself in all the paintings as she walked down the hallway. She found herself having to choose between three other hallways once she came to an intersection in that hall. That's when she remembered why she was up there in the first place, to find Naomi. She heard an elevator door opening.

"Maybe that's Naomi!" Ayaka said to no one in particular, running towards the sound. She entered a room with a few chairs and various pamphlets and brochures and whatnot on a table. Just then she quickly jerked back behind the wall just as three adults emerged from the elevator.

"Gah!" Ayaka looked around frantically. Where to hide? She heard footsteps approaching and she quickly darted back into the intersection of the hallways. She turned right and hid behind that corner.

         "Excuse me are you lost?"

Ayaka shrieked in surprise at the woman's sudden appearance and jumped back. The woman began to look concerned, she was young and had dark brown shoulder length hair and a petite face. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you."

"No, I'm fine." Ayaka assured her, panting slightly from the jump scare she'd given her as she stole a glance at Naomi's parents. Her mother, a short woman with short black hair that hung just below her chin, took out her phone and speedily dialed a number.

"Hello?" She said, hurrying down the other hall as she held the phone up to her ear.

"What's the matter?" The woman asked, following her gaze. "Are you the missing little girl?"

Ayaka ignored her and bounded after them, as quietly yet quickly as she could.

Nana sighed slightly, still waiting for Ayaka and Naomi to return. She sneezed and the man beside her handed her a tissue. "Bless you." He said.

"Thank you." Nana mumbled. She thought for a moment. "I'm just gonna go look for my sister now." She said, standing up and leaving. She decided to take the stairs, and began slowly ascending them.

As soon as the elevator doors opened Naomi made her way to the stairs. She had been on this floor before, just not the other one. Before she knew it, she'd bumped into something, or more like someone and doubled over.

"Hey, watch it!" A familiar voice snapped.

          "Ayaka! It's me, Naomi!"

Ayaka looked up at the mention of her name and found the person she was looking for this past, what, five or six minutes? "Well don't just sit there!" She said, already on her feet again. "The police are on their way!"

"The police?!" Naomi squeaked, biting her fingernails as her anxiety grew. "W-who called the police?!"

"That rotten bitch you call a mother." Ayaka simply replied before clapping a hand over her mouth as she realized what she just said. "Oh! I...uhh I didn't mean-"

"No no, it's okay." Naomi tried to reassure her. "Ever since she started abusing me, I never liked her." She shrugged.

"Well we don't have any time to waste!" Ayaka grabbed her arm and pulled her away, dreading the thought of getting caught. Would her and Nana go to jail if she did? While Naomi dreaded seeing her parents' faces again. The two girls bounded down the long set of stairs, which took some effort considering how fast they were going. Naomi was already out of breath! And her legs began to ache.

"Let's get Nana and get out--" Ayaka began before she bumped into someone. Three shrill screams were heard, and bounced off the walls as all three girls tumbled down the last few steps. Ayaka had bumped into Nana and doubled them both over, dragging Naomi with them.

"Get your big butt off me!" Nana screamed. "And watch where you're going next time!" She shoved her sister and Naomi off her.

"You're the one to talk!" Ayaka shot back, rubbing her elbow that she'd hit against the marble floor. "You gave me a bruise!" Nana complained, pointing a finger at her knee and leg which was turning more purple by the second. "Two bruises!"

"Well maybe if you would've watched where you were going I--" A fuming Ayaka was interrupted by a gasp escaping Naomi's lips. Before she could ask what was wrong, she heard police sirens sounding just outside of the library.

"Oh crap!" Dread coiled in their stomachs, and they all looked down the empty hall towards the library. Nana stood to her feet, and moved a little towards her sister. While the other two stood like a deer caught in headlights.

"But....if they're blocking the entrance then...." Nana whispered. "That was our only way out!" Naomi exclaimed.

"No it's not." Ayaka replied, remembering the other exit she saw when she had went up the staircase to find Naomi. She pointed behind her to a door about a meter away with the word, EXIT, in bold red letters on it. She grabbed Nana's hand and dashed out the exit, Naomi on their heels. They finally made it out! But what now? Can they find a place to hang before night falls??
