The peak of my life was where I was now, a sweet unfamiliar aroma filling my nose as my eyes finally opened. Someone seemed to have been cooking which is a highly unexpected thing in this house. I stepped out of the comfort of my sleeping space and began to follow the smell until I reached the kitchen. The chatter began to quiet as I walked in, my three teenagers were all doing different things in the kitchen.

Ansel sat on one of the countertops stirring away as he listened to the directions of his siblings. Valentina sat on the floor reading receipts and telling them what to do. And Enrique was doing all the dirty work, he had what seemed to be flour all over his pajama pants.

Ricardo on the other hand, sat at the island in the kitchen drinking his coffee as if the three of them weren't on the way to destroying the cleanliness of the kitchen. I sat next to Ricardo who planted a soft kiss on my head as I leaned against him. Enrique slipped a coffee onto the counter for me, "You're welcome." He never gives me the chance to say thank you first.

"What's the occasion?" I ask as I pick up the fresh coffee that was placed in front of me. I felt the room become still for a second and they all looked at me as if I were crazy, "Seriously what's the occasion?"

"Mom, its February 14th." Enrique says speaking up first. He stared at me waiting for me to catch on.

"Oh it's Valentine's day." I said not even noticing exactly what that meant. I took a sip of the coffee, trying to remember what the occasion was Valentina stood up, her curly hair was even frazzled by me not catching on, "It's literally your only three kids birthdays and your anniversary." She shook her head walking past me, "We woke up early to a special breakfast for you when I could be resting, like I'm seriously extremely annoyed."
