A few days later, I knock on Meredith's door.

"Come in sweetheart! My grandson is coming over in a bit..."

"Oh!" I say. "Should I come back a different time?"

"No!" Meredith exclaims. "Come in! I want you to meet him, I think you will like him."

Meredith pulls me inside and sits me down. "Is everything at school going better for you?"

"Yes!" AsI fill her in on everything, a sly smile grows on her face.

"Why are you smiling like that?" I laugh.

"Oh nothing... Look my grandson's here!" She nods at a car pulling up outside of her house. Her grandson comes out, and I notice that he looks a lot like Meredith. Then I notice that Meredith's grandson is Jacob!

"Meredith!" I exclaim. "That's Jacob!"

"I realized as you were telling me about what happened just now that you were talking about Jake!" She laughs. "I knew you would like him! I'm happy you guys are friends now."

I feel embarrassed, knowing that Meredith knows that I kissed her grandson. She sees my face and laughs.

"Don't be embarrassed Bertha. He is really happy that you and him are friends again, even if he doesn't have those feelings for you. Now, let's surprise him when he comes in..." She cackles.

But first, I hug Meredith. "Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone... It meant a lot."

"Of course, sweetheart... I enjoy spending time with you."

And that is when I realize that this will not be last time I'm going to need Meredith's help, and I hug her even tighter, thankful for my new friend.

Did you guys not realize that Meredith is Jacob's grandma? I made a bunch of foreshadowing!

Like I think Bertha mentions that the neighbor moved in recently, and when they arrive at Jacob's Victorian, he says it used to be his grandma's but she didn't like all the space, so she moved out into a smaller house...

And Jacob and his grandma are the same ethnicity... Plus Meredith mentions "My grandson" a lot!!

This is another of my fav parts in the story!
