"W-What greater punishment is there than life when you've lost everything that made it worth living?" I read out loud and stared at the sentence

What makes it worth living in the first place if there was never anything to make it valuable

I read Alexis's summery and frowned deeply I rubbed my finger over her beautifully sloppy cursive

"Harry?!" I slammed the book closed and slipped it under my pillow sitting on the edge of my cot

"Yes?" The door opened and Dimitri stood there

"Do you have the 12 o'clock duty?" I shook my head

"No I've been 10pm to 10am or 11am to 11pm" he sighed

"Franklin fucked up his shift again he's left the palace thinking he was off can I get you on the shift till he returns?" I nodded

"Sure give me 10 to get ready" he nodded

"I'll be with the Queen" I nodded

He closed my door and I held my chest I sighed and stood up walking to my closet I pulled out my uniform I was upgraded to the full outfit jacket and all

My room was small just big enough for a nightstand, a dresser, a closet, and my cot but it did have its own bathroom a feature I was thankful for

I was dressed I looked back at my cot to make sure the book wasn't showing I stepped out after walking down the corridor everyone's names on gold plates on the door

I walked across the garden to the doors I stepped in and saw a maid dusting I walked over "have you seen the Queen?"

She glanced at me then turned away she shook her head I sighed and nodded

"Right" I walked off I looked for anyone else I pulled out my phone and called Dimitri

"Yes?"

"Where are you?" I asked

"In the Queen's room she's watching tv" I nodded

"On my way" I hung up and walked up to her door I knocked Dimitri opened it and I stepped in Alexis was on her sofa watching a movie

I stood on the other side of the door and kinda glanced at the tv watching bits and pieces

"It's quite good" Dimitri nodded as he whispered to me

"Looks fine..." I shrugged

He smirked "main girl could share my cot anyday" he chuckled I laughed with him

"Im sure she like has a thing for guards"

"Hey better than the clean up crew" he defended himself I shook my head

"I'd totally date a guard" we both spasmed and went ridge again as Alexis was turned to look at both of us

"I'm sorry if we distracted you my Queen" Dimitri apologized

"No I wanna be part of the conversation" she smiled "main girl is okay not great"

I smirked "solid 5" I agreed
