CH 1

"Raven, it's time to get up." My caretaker, Kathy, yelled. Unlike some Wattpad stories where the caretaker hates the child or children she was never like that. That could be because she has watched me grow up my whole. I got up and then started to do what I did every morning. Kathy always went into "your" bedroom to wake you up because some of the people here (including me) don't like to get up. "Good morning, Kathy." I said. "Good morning, Raven. Someone is coming to adopt today." She said. "Okay." I said. "Do you know which age group?" I asked. "Your age group." She said with a slight smile. Most people adopt babies or children not really teens. "I have a chance today?" I asked. "Yes, my dear, you do." She said. "That's awesome!" I said excitedly. My smile was big and I could tell me being happy made her happy. "If you get adopted; please don't forget about." She said. I don't think I could ever forget the woman that raised me up to the woman I am today. "I won't. How could I ever forget the woman who has practically raised me?" I asked. She smiled at me and then I smiled back. "I'll leave to let you get ready." She said. "Okay." I said.

When I was ready, I went downstairs to eat. When everybody started to stare at me I could feel my anxiety starting to raise. One reason I hated having anxiety, was when people were to stare at me I would freak out. I slowly but surely to make my way to get some food. "Raven, it's nice to see you again." Michelle, the lady who gives us food, said. She has been away for a few weeks because of family issues. "Nice to see you again." I said. "Did you hear about someone coming to adopt in my age group?" I asked. "Yep. Hopefully this will be your turn to leave. You deserve to live with a family once." She said. "You better go eat." She added. "Okay. Bye Michelle." I said. "Bye Raven." She said.

I walked over to my normal table and one of the kids that I pretty much have been raising came over. "Waven." Tyler said. He put his arms out which meant he wanted up. "Hi Tyler." I said lifting him up. "Guess what?" He asked. "What?" I asked. I knew today he turns three. "I free." He said holding three fingers up. "Man, you're getting big." I said lifting him up. "You need to stop growing up." I said. "I sowwy." He said. "It's fine. You really can't stop growing up." I said. "Otay." He said. "Raven, the person who is adopting is here." Kathy said. "Okay. Be good, Tyler." I said putting him back on the floor. "You know he's going to be upset if he loses you." She said. "I won't go without him." I said. "Even if it means your freedom of here?" She asked. "Yep." I said.

I walked into the room where everyone else my age was at. I sat in my normal seat waiting for the person to come in. Everyone was talking to someone, but I didn't talk to anyone because I just gave up over the years. When you grow up watching so many people get adopted and not you, that's when you start to give up hope. I heard the door open which caused me to look up. Everybody soon stopped talking and then one girl screamed. I still couldn't see what was going on, and soon everybody was parting. "Girls please sit down." Kathy said. Everyone sat down, and continued to whisper about something. That's when I saw Demi Lovato; we made eye contact and she smiled. I did try to smile back, but you could tell I was faking it. She walked around and talked to everyone. You could tell some of the girls were trying to get her to like them. When she got the girl next to me; the girl next to me squealed which made Demi somewhat smile. See I like Demi's music, but to me any famous person is just like everyone else in my eyes. The girl and Demi quickly finished; this meant it was my turn to talk to her.

"Hi, what's your name?" She asked. "Raven Hailey. No last name. What's your name?" I asked. "Don't you know who I am?" She asked with a smile. "Yeah, but to me you're just another human." I said. "Okay. Well then Raven, I'm Demi Lovato. Tell me about yourself." She said. "Well I like music that people consider emo. My favorite color is purple. I like books that Stephen King has written. I enjoy horror films over any other type of movie. Pizza happens to be my favorite food. I have anxiety which can cause me to pass out. When tons of people are around me, I will have an anxiety attack." I said. "You're the only girl here so far that hasn't said things about me when I asked that question. Most of the girls here where like, 'I know this about you'." She said with a laugh. "You also seem to be the coolest." She added. "Thanks, I guess." I said. "How long have you been here?" She asked. "Since I was two days old. My mom gave me up, and died in a crash with my dad when I was a month old. They were supposedly coming back to get me." I said. "That must suck." She said. "Yeah, but it was actually cool because I've had many different people watch me grow up. The one person I don't want to leave is a little boy named Tyler. I helped Kathy, she's the owner, raise Tyler so he's like my son." I said. "How old is he?" She asked. "Three." I said. She looked at me and then smiled. "I'll be right back." She said. I was the last person she would talk to before making her decision. I have probably been here the most so I usually sit at the end because who would want a kid who was raised in and adoption center. Demi walked out of the room which made everyone start to talk again.

I got up and went to find Tyler. Even though I had a chance to be adopted; I was going to celebrate his birthday with him. "Michelle, do you know where Tyler is?" I asked. "Yes. He's outside right now." She said. "Now how come you aren't with your age group right?" She asked. "I want to celebrate Tyler's birthday." I said. "Would you like to make a cake?" She asked. "Yes, but a small one." I said. "Okay. You can go get Tyler while I get everything out for you." She said. "Thank you." I said.

I went outside and saw Tyler sitting in the grass. I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. "Waven!" He yelled. "Hi Tyler." I said picking him up. "Do you want to make a cake?" I asked. "Yes!" He said excitedly. "Let's go then." I said. I walked back into the building with Tyler on my hip. "Raven Hailey, where were you?" Kathy asked. "Outside getting Tyler." I said. "You out of all people should know you stay in the room until I come and talk to the person getting adopted." She said. "Why would Demi want me? Or even why would anyone want me?" I asked. "I want you because you deserve a somewhat normal life." Demi said. She stood up from where she was sitting and walked towards Tyler and I. "You must be Tyler." She said. Tyler nodded and then put his face in the crook of my neck. "He's shy when it comes to new people." I said. "Well he must get comfortable to me like he's comfortable with you." She said. "What?" I asked. "You two are going to be my kids." She said. "You're going to be our mom?" I asked. "Yes." She said. "Why me?" I asked. "To me you seem very mature and I think you need to have some type of life before turning 18." She said. "Thank you." I said. "Go pack your things as well as Tyler's." Kathy said. "You're taking Tyler too?" I asked. "I don't want you to miss out on him growing up. When you talk about him; you seem to become happy." Demi said. "Thank you." I said. "You can leave Tyler down here." Kathy said. "Okay." I said. "Tyler, you will be staying down here. I will be back down here, okay?" I added. "Otay." Tyler said. "I'll come help you." Demi said. "Don't you have to fill out papers?" I asked. "Shoot you're right." Demi said. "I'll send you up when you're done filling out the papers." Kathy said to Demi.
