When we arrived, we barely made the bell. I skimmed the crowd for Ezami, my best friend, but didn’t see her.

“Do you see Ezami?” I asked Cylak.

He shook his head. “No, I haven’t seen her in a while.”

We looked around the crowd that was shuffling and flying into the building, but couldn’t find her, no matter where we looked. “How hard is it to spot a platinum blonde?” I asked, looking for the bright hair that always made her stand out.

“Very funny.” He laughed like it was, but I didn’t mean it to be. I mean, it’s true, she’s probably the whitest faerie in Tanyela, and I don’t mean it racistly.

“Just look for the white wings.” I told him.

“Hey!” A voice screamed from behind me. I jerked around fast and conjured fire to my hands, but stopped. It’s only Ezami, still white as ever. “Whoa, no need to go all fiery on me!” Ezami laughed and backed away quickly.

“Don’t sneak up on me like that.” I replied hotly, and doused the flame. Yes, my Magic is Fire. I've had it for over a year, and I don't try to use it as much as I used to, but you can never be too careful, especially when I take my rare trips to Earth.

“No need to get all upset with me. I didn’t do anything.” Ezami whimpered.

“Don’t sneak up on me. You know I can incinerate you.” I small smile cracked my face, but faded when I saw Aaron, who saw us and approached us.

“Calia, where the hell were you last night?” Aaron almost shouted furiously, and then pointed at Cylak. “You’re supposed to come home from friend visits.”

“I’m sorry, I kinda fell asleep.” I explained as the crowd was almost gone, which meant class was about to start.

“Fell asleep?” Aaron was even more furious, stepping closer, as I watched his hands turn a forest green and felt the ground starting to shake. “That’s no excuse!”

“Hey, lay off.” Cylak said flatly, stepping in between us. Aaron backed away as guards started to appear in front of him.

“Oh what, Dad sent in bodyguards now?” I asked like it was a stupid question. Which, it was.

“Yeah, apparently.” Aaron said as I slipped away from them. “They’re here for you, too.” Some guards started to walk in my direction, but I was almost inside.

“Dad.” I whispered angrily and headed inside without another word. I headed off towards Advisory, when Cylak caught up to me.

“Your brother can be so freaking stupid.” He stated as we stepped inside.

“You don’t need to tell me that.” I murmured as we took our seats.

“Did you hear about the new class?” He asked me.

“No…?” I cocked my head to the side, wanting him to explain more.

“Oh, well, there is a class to replace Magics History. I don’t know why, but they did.”

“Must’ve figured out it was a stupid class. Finally.” I murmured, but he laughed.

“Says the girl who’s failing it miserably.”

“Oh, shut up.” I laughed, but thought of something else. “Is it still a History class, or is it something completely new?”

“I don’t know, I’ll see it later.” Cylak sighed. I remembered now. We aren’t in the same History class. I sighed and waited for first period. Once the bell rang, we stood up from our seats and headed for the door. “I’ll see you later, okay?” Cylak asked before he placed a kiss on my lips.

“Okay.” I smiled as we headed in different directions.

I headed off towards the class. I hated Cylak not being there, but, then again, neither is Aaron. He switched out earlier due to some class he just had to take, so, really, thank God. I ditched the guards somewhere too, because I was alone when I entered.

I found my History class, but there was a whole new look. And by look, I meant teacher.

“Good morning, class.” The man from the front of the room greeted us as we took our seats. “My name is Mr. Sharp, and I’m your new Worlds History teacher.” He glanced around the room until his eyes were locked on mine, his eyes sending a cold feeling to me. “And it looks like our special guest is here.”

Everyone turned their heads and looked directly at me.

“Oh, um, hi…” I said rather awkwardly. Special guest?

“Now, class, I’m sure most of you don’t know that there are other worlds besides Tanyela out there.” Mr. Sharp started.

“Yeah.” I murmured to myself. “Tanyela and Earth.”

“Not even that, Ms. Lufrewop.” Mr. Sharp continued, looking right at me. He heard me how…?

I examined him more closely. He was on the tall side, with muscles, which was kinda hot. He had dark brown hair that was thick, and very big brown eyes. He was wearing a black suit with black shoes. I couldn’t see anything particularly wrong with him, except for the fact he didn’t have… Wings!

“Wingless!” I shouted, jumping on my tree-stump desk and conjuring fire to my hands. “You’re a Wingless!”

“Now, Calia.” Mr. Sharp began. “I can ensure you I am no Wingless.” He began to walk over to me.

“Stay back!” I shouted, and thrusted fire at him, making my classmates scream. He quickly but calmly ducked, the flame hitting the board at the front.

In the next second I remembered him ten feet from me, but suddenly he was an inch away from me, his hands grabbing my shirt.

“Calia!” Ezami shouted from the other side of the room, now aware of what’s going on.

He moved his mouth next to my ear, where I shut my eyes and prepared for the worst. Except he just whispered “The school wouldn’t hire me if I was a Wingless.” I jerked away from him.

“Then what are you?” I asked, but soon figured it out. “Human!”

“I’m not a human, either.” Mr. Sharp turned and walked away from my desk and back to his. I stepped off the desk and sunk into the leaf-like chair, hoping to disappear. If he's not a human or a faerie, then what the heck is he?

“Okay class…” Mr. Sharp began. “Thanks to Calia, we’ll all go on a field trip to my hometown. See if she believes me there.”

"Great…" I muttered as I sank even more as my other classmates glared at me. Mr. Sharp’s hometown couldn’t be that great, although, I don’t even know what kind of species he is.

“Oh, you guys really think my home is that bad?” Mr. Sharp started to laugh, and I could see a humorous glimmer in his eyes. “Well, I know you all are in for a nice surprise.”
