We knew we had to get back. I knew my family was worried, as well as Cylak. But I want to know why my family didn’t tell me about other worlds in the first place.
“Mr. Sharp!” I yelled so he could hear me over the howling. He jumped down when he heard me calling him.
“Yeah?” He asked like he wanted to howl more.
“Are there any other worlds?” I asked as a couple wolves walked by and stared at me oddly.
“Oh, yes. There are multiple worlds other then Tanyela and Wolnia. Many others.”
“Wolnia?”
“It’s the wolves’ home world. There are different worlds for different creatures, but we can access them all. Only the humans can’t access us.”
“Ha, yeah…” I laughed, remembering how Nick followed Ezami to Tanyela. More wolves walked by. More odd stares. “Mr. Sharp…” I trailed slowly. “Why do the wolves keep staring at me?”
Mr. Sharp looked around and realized what was going on. “Oh, right…” Mr. Sharp trailed, remembering something. “Well, you’re a faerie, and us wolves aren’t exactly used to faeries around our world. It’s not like we’ll kick you out or anything, it’s just not natural.” He began to walk somewhere leading us outside the town. “Come on. Let’s head this way.”
We walked for a while before I noticed it was only Mr. Sharp, Ezami, and I. Where did my classmates go?
“It’s getting late.” I said as I looked up at the dark-blue sky and full moon.
“Not really. It’s only fifth period.” Mr. Sharp replied as a couple of wolves stopped in front of us.
“Hey, it’s Andrew!” The lighter-furred wolf, definitely female, wolf exclaimed. “And look who you found!”
“It wasn’t hard.” Mr. Sharp replied, obviously annoyed. “And why do you care?”
“Is she eighteen yet?” The darker-furred, definitely male, wolf asked.
“I don’t think so.” Mr. Sharp turned and looked at me when he said that.
“Oh.” The wolves said in unison as they walked around us, and we started walking again.
“Who were they, Mr. Sharp?” I asked.
“My friends.” Mr. Sharp replied, still annoyed.
“Nice friends.” Ezami murmured to herself.
“They are, once you get to know them.” Mr. Sharp shot Ezami a look.
“Hey, where are we going?” I asked as we came into view of an enormous, beautiful structure.
“Tanyela’s not the only world that gets ruled by royalty.” Mr. Sharp smiled. That’s when I realized the structure was a castle. “You’re royalty, aren’t you, Calia?” He asked me, but knew the answer. “Come meet the royals here.”
I smiled as we approached the building and walked inside. There was a blood-red carpet that covered stone floors, paintings of wolves hung on the walls, shelves with numerous books of history just wanting to be read, sitting on beautifully crafted wooden shelves. Golden thrones stood on the opposite side of the room, where I could see a faint outline of two people sitting in them.
“Come on,” Mr. Sharp urged us along as we followed him to the thrones.
As we neared I could tell that the two people were definitely royalty. The man looked somewhat like Mr. Sharp, but had blue eyes instead of instead of brown, and the woman had light brown hair with green eyes. The man wore a long blue shirt with sapphire encrusted, black pants and the shiniest black shoes I’ve ever seen, with a gold crown with a wolf-head shaped diamond. The woman had a dark-blue, ankle-length sparkly dress with blue high heels, and a tiara with the same wolf-shaped diamond.
“Ah, Andrew!” The man greeted us happily as he stood up from his throne to approach us. “You found her.”
“Yeah yeah, I already went through this with Jay and Emma.” Mr. Sharp said, letting out a little growl.
“Oh, don’t go all wolf on us.” The woman said, standing up and approaching me. She looked over at my teacher. “Is she eighteen yet?”
“I don’t think so.” Mr. Sharp looked over at me again.
I took it rather offensively. “I’ll be eighteen in two months!”
The man nodded his head. “Then two months it shall be.”
“Then what shall be?” I asked, because I really didn’t have a clue.
“Have you met my son?” The man asked me, ignoring the question.
“I don’t know. Who’s your son?” I asked, but I didn’t really know any werewolves.
“His name is Calvin. Prince Calvin Flow, to be exact.” The man smiled proudly.
“Okay, so you’re the King?” I asked more rudely then I needed to.
“Calia.” Mr. Sharp warned.
“Indeed I am. King Conray Flow of Wolnia. This is my wife, Cameron.” He gestured to the woman.
“Pleasure meeting you.” She smiled.
“Nice meeting you, too.” I smiled back.
“Oh, Andrew.” Conray said, pointing to the sky to remember something. “Would you mind getting Calvin for us? I’m sure he’s around here somewhere.”
“Fine.” Mr. Sharp replied, unimpressed, as he started heading for the stairs and soon disappeared, leaving me with the royals and Ezami.
“Do you like it here in Wolnia?” Conray asked me, breaking the silence.
“Yeah, yeah, nice world.” I said nicely, although I meant it sarcastically.
“That’s great. I want everyone to be happy here, wolf or not.” Conray smiled wider as two wolves came into view coming down the stairs.
“Calvin!” Cameron scolded. “You know not to be a wolf in front of guests.”
“I’m sorry, mother.” His tone was perfect sarcasm. “I was sleeping when uncle Andrew woke me up.”
Uncle Andrew? Holy crap.
“Doesn’t matter. Transform human, now.” She ordered, and I was a little shocked at her rude tone.
“Ugh, fine.” The wolf sighed as I witnessed him changing from a dark-furred, four-legged wolf into a human, as he stood up from four legs to two, fur slowly changing into skin, and his paws changing into hands and feet. He was clothed, thank God, into a green shirt with black pants, his dark, thick hair somewhat messy, but shone his bright green eyes.
I found him sort of hot.
He slowly approached where I was standing. “You must be Calia.” His voice was pleasant to listen to. “I’m Calvin.”
“Nice to meet you.” I smiled as I extended my arm out so he could shake my hand. He extended his arm and clasped my hand. I wasn’t expecting what he did next. Instead of shaking it like I thought he would, brought me in close to him and kissed me hard on the lips.
The kiss was only a second before I backed away quickly. “Whoa.” I waved my hands in front of myself. “Slow down. I barely know you, and-”
“Aw, you two look so cute together!” Cameron screamed joyously. “I wish the wedding would come sooner.”
“Oh, you’re getting married?” I asked, still shocked that he would kiss me when he had a fiancée. “To who?”
They all looked at me oddly, and then Calvin said “You.”
