We headed to Cylak’s hotel room to avoid the police and teachers, and hopefully Calvin. I thought it was going to be just Cylak and me, but Michael came along, too.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Cylak asked me for the umpteenth time since we left.

“Cylak, please, I’m fine.” I answered again for the umpteenth time.

“Well, I promised Aaron-”

“I know.” I cut him off, very annoyed.

“Well, Michael.” Cylak started as we entered the hotel room. “Did you come to check on me?”

“No, no, of course not.” Michael laughed. “Your Mom’s just a little worried about you, that’s all.” He emphasized, and I knew he meant little sarcastically.

“Wait, how do you two know each other?” I asked, because I found it weird.

“We’re cousins, Calia.” Cylak answered, and my jaw dropped. “My aunt is my Mom’s sister, and his mother.” He pointed to Michael.

“Yeah. I was worried when you brought up Tanyela in class, because I thought you were a human, so I started thinking of ways to kill you.” Michael informed me, and Cylak tensed up.

“Yeah, don’t go killing my fiancée.” Cylak glared angrily at Michael.

“Whoa, okay, okay!” Michael waved his arms in front of him. “I get it. Don’t kill the fiancée.” Michael nodded, getting the point. I think he knew Cylak could kill him.

“Good.” And then he turned to me. “Why didn’t you tell me Calvin was at your school?” He sounded very worrisome. “I would’ve come sooner.”

“Cylak, he showed up yesterday.” I informed him. “I meant to call, but-”

“You should’ve called. You would’ve been safe.” Cylak’s eyes grew soft, and he avoided my gaze. “I should’ve been there.”

“Cylak, it’s not your fault.” I replied, wrapping my arms around his waist. “It’s mine.”

“No, it’s mine. We never should’ve come here. To Earth, I mean.” He sighed, breaking from me and started pacing the floor.

“Cylak, I’m glad we came.” I started, and his eyes met mine. “We had the best time at Disneyland, didn’t we?”

“Well, I guess, until the Marojas came.” Cylak sighed again.

“Cylak…” I trailed, whining. “I promise you, I’m not marrying Calvin. Okay?” I looked him directly in the eyes. “I promise.”

“Me too.” Cylak smiled as he kissed me, and I kissed back until I heard Michael groan. “Now, how about dinner?”

“Sure.” I nodded as we headed for the door.

“Oh, and Michael.” Cylak started, getting his attention. “Just tell them that we’re safe.”

“Gotcha.” Michael nodded and we were off.

“Do I even want to know how much money you have?” I asked, because he seemed to get it from nowhere.

“Oh, I have my sources.” Cylak smiled evilly like I did back at Disneyland. We headed off towards Applebee’s, because I didn’t want all this fancy crap. Not tonight.

“We find ourselves in a restaurant again.” Cylak said as we sat at a booth. “This is kinda like Flyer’s Desire, huh?”

“Not really. Wasn’t that like Cheddars?” I asked, remembering way back when to the first trip Downtown when I first arrived in Tanyela.

“Oh yeah! It was, wasn’t it?” Cylak laughed along. “Right.”

“Right…” I trailed, fake laughing. I had to get serious. “What took you so long?”

The waitress came out for us to order drinks, so it saved him from speaking. We ordered our Cokes and it was back to seriousness.

“Well?” I asked, but he seemed lost.

“Well, what?” He asked, confused. Ugh.

“What took you so long?” I asked again. He shook his head.

“I was getting help.” He replied like it was no big deal.

“Help? With what?” I asked worriedly. Only God knows with him.

“Look, I was trying to find ways to get some quick cash.” He reached into his suit pocket and pulled out some twenties. My jaw dropped.

“Where did you get that?” I asked, well, more demanded. “Did you smash and ATM?”

Cylak laughed. “No, but that thought did cross my mind.” The drinks came, so we ordered our food and waved thanks and went back to talking. “Look, don’t worry about it, okay?” He asked, and put my hands in his. “I’m not getting into any human trouble.”

“Yeah, but what about-” I cut off, and lowered my voice. “-faerie trouble?”

“Nope. Not even that.” Cylak kept laughing, but I couldn’t. I didn’t know what he did, but I knew what he was capable of.

The food came pretty quickly and I tried to stop the subject. It wasn’t easy, but we went to human life and what we could do together later.

“How long did you plan on staying here?” Cylak asked, biting into a rib.

“Oh, um, I haven’t really thought about it.” I admitted, chewing on a couple fries, but he didn’t seem mad.

“Okay. I hadn’t either, I was making sure none of us had a plan so we can improvise.” He laughed like he had the earlier part of the night. I guess he laughs a lot on dates.

“Cylak…” I started, getting more serious again. “You know we can’t stay here, right?”

He titled his head slightly and had a confused look fade onto his face. “Why not?”

“Because the wolves found me!” I shrieked, hoping he’d get the point.

“Calia.” He said sharply, and now he was getting serious. “The wolves like to hunt. I knew they’d find you. It was just a matter of time.” He paused for a second. “Short amount of time, I’ll admit, but-”

“Cylak.”I cut in to stop his rambling. “If they find me again and they take me back, chances are, I’ll marry him. They’re not gonna risk it, I’ll be there.” I felt tears fall uncontrollably. “Do you understand?”

Cylak dipped his head. “I don’t want it to come to that.” He admitted, and I thought he was going to start crying. He raised his head again and his eyes met mine. “I’m not going to lose you.”

“I’m not gonna lose you, either.” I promised softly. “I don’t know what choice we have, or what we’re gonna do.”

Cylak spread a slow smile to his face. “I think I know what to do.”

We paid for our meal and we headed out. Cylak led me to a sidewalk where lots of taxis were. He hopped into one, so I followed, hopping in the backseat with him.

“Drive us to the nearest airport.” Cylak told the man in the driver’s seat as he handed him a twenty. The man nodded and the car started moving.

“Where are we going?” I asked as I buckled my seatbelt and we were on our way down a highway.

Cylak smiled evilly. “Have you ever been to Vegas?”
