I went to the only place I felt safe, and that was Cylak’s.

I approached his door and knocked repeatedly. He opened it almost immediately, and in the next second I was in his arms. I’m sure he noticed my burning red eyes from the tears, and led me inside.

“Is Aaron okay?” He asked as we sat down.

“Yeah, he’s okay.” I sniffled as I talked.

“Then what’s wrong?” He asked, now sounding sympathetic.

“Well…” I trailed, letting the word die away. I didn’t know how to say ‘we can’t be together cause I’m getting married’ to him. But then what would he do?

“What?” He asked, more demanding.

“My parents did something stupid…” I started, watching his emotion.

“Okay…” He trailed, moving his arms in circular motion, telling me to move on.

“My parents put me in an arranged marriage.” I said quickly, hiding my eyes so he wouldn’t see me cry, and so I didn’t have to see his reaction.

“What?” His voice was trembling, so not exactly mad, but sad.

“Yeah. I have no vote. I can’t do a thing!” I couldn’t help myself from sobbing. He held me closer.

“To who?” He whispered, and now he was mad.

“The prince from Wolnia.” I said quickly, and I saw his eyes flare. “No, you can’t go kill him.”

“Damn it.” His breathed out quickly. “When did you find out?”

“Right after he kissed me.”I blurted, but slammed my mouth shut right after. Ooh, shouldn’t have said that.

“He kissed you!?” He screamed, tightening his grip on me. Crap, he’s pissed.

“Yeah, but I backed away the second he did.”I assured him. I didn’t like him pissed. He’s usually so violent.

“Oh.” He said quickly, trying to calm himself down, but so wasn't working.

“What’re we gonna do?” I asked softly, wrapping my arms around his waist. “I don’t want to lose you.”

“I’m not gonna lose you.” Cylak assured me as he leaned in and kissed me softly. “I promise.”

“I promise, too.” I said, and for the first time today, I smiled. But it quickly faded away. “Still…”

“We’ll think of something.” Cylak assured me, smiling himself, but that also faded. “When’s the wedding?”

“Two months, on my birthday.” I replied as his jaw dropped.

“Okay, we need to think of something now.” He said as he let go and stood up, pacing across the floor. “You good at hiding?”

“Yes.” I replied, because, honestly, I’ve been hiding from the Marojas since two years ago. The Marojas were my parents who adopted me when I was living out on Earth, and, let's just say they're slightly a lot more then crazy.

“You want to run away to Earth?” He asked, but I shook my head.

“I’d rather not…” I trailed, thinking of all the disasters that could happen. I've done it so many times, and they usually never ended well…

“What choice do we have?” He asked worriedly.

I was immediately confused. “We?”

“Yeah. I want to come with you.” He told me, and I felt all warm and gooey on the inside.

I felt myself blushing. “Okay.”

“Good. So, we’re doing it?” He asked me seriously, like it was life or death.

I nodded, unable to think of anything else. “Let’s do it.”

He changed into his human clothes and we were off towards Riveredge to get mine. I was hoping not to run into any of my family, but that was a slim to none chance.

The guards let us through and we entered, not questioning Cylak's apparel. The throne room was empty, thank God, as we headed upstairs to my room. I grabbed my clothes I haven’t worn in a year and a half and slipped them on, my red T-shirt and the sweet jeans that I missed so much, feeling my human nature slipping back into me.

I remembered the life I left behind.

“You ready?” Cylak asked as he took my hand.

“Yeah.” I nodded as we left.

We walked past the medical room, and shockingly, no one was in there but Aaron. I wondered where everyone was, but let it fade from my mind.

“I’m gonna talk to Aaron first.” I told him as I let go of his hand and walked inside.

He was awake when I entered, and he stared at me, probably thinking of the outfit I was wearing. “Calia, you’re not…” He trailed, but I knew what he meant.

“I am. I have to.” I explained quickly, grabbing hold of Cylak's hand.

“But why?” His voiced was soft, like he could barely talk.

“I’m not marrying some prince who’s family attacked you. I also don’t really like him in the first place. And he’s a wolf!” I paused in disgust. “Not even our kind.”

“Yeah, but he’s your fiancé.” Aaron pointed out and Cylak grew tense. "You heard the story from two different sides."

“No, no, I refuse to believe it.” I shot back, now myself getting angry. “So, we came to say our goodbyes for a while.”

“What about Mom and Dad?” He asked, but I didn't really care what they think.

“They’ll understand.” I nodded confidently, although I know I'm getting into inevitable trouble later, but it was worth it.

“What about the wolves?” I wasn’t prepared for that question.

“They’ll have to get over it.” I said, crossing my arms.

He let out a long sigh. “You two are really going to Earth together?”

I let go of Cylak's hand and wrapped my arms around his waist. “Yes. We’re not going to be broken apart by this.”

Aaron closed his eyes. “Be careful. Wolves like to hunt.”

“I know.” I waved at him before exiting.

We were at the Earth Exit quickly so we wouldn’t get seen by other faeries. Cylak opened it, and we were standing between humans and faeries.

“You ready?” Cylak asked, taking my hand.

“Yeah.” I smiled, and then we stepped through.

Back to the life I knew and hated.
