I was here about two weeks, and it turned out pretty okay. I mean, the Marojas weren’t as bad as they were a year and a half ago, which gave me a lot more freedom. I haven’t been hunted down by the faeries or the wolves, so it’s safe to say I’m okay.
It was Tuesday now, the day before Valentine’s Day, and just six weeks till my birthday. I started to ease off, and relax a little. Cylak was only a hologram away, right?
I also started to learn how to drive. And, if I’ve learned anything, it’s harder than you think it is.
Mrs. Maroja dropped me off at school, a little later than usual. I was rushing inside, and I noticed the bell hadn’t rung yet. I calmed myself, and eased to a walk. The hallway was talkative, but, surprisingly, of the same subject.
“Did you hear about that new exchange student?” One girl asked another.
“Yeah, and he’s totally hot.” The other girl replied.
“What’s his name?”Another asked.
“He looks like he came from heaven.” Another said.
“Who is he? Where’s he from?” Another asked.
And that was only the Freshman. I didn’t know what grade he was in, but I wanted to know what the hell was going on.
I headed off to my Advisory, and that’s where the huge crowd was. I tried to slip through the crowd, but it really wasn’t working. I thought about burning a couple people in particular, but the thought escaped when I did get through.
I was totally speechless when I stepped inside and saw who was there.
“So, right after I kissed her, she backed off and went into a whole rambling speech I didn’t even listen to!” The new student exclaimed, telling his story as he messed with his buttoned-up blue shirt and sticking his hands in his jean pockets. The other classmates just laughed along.
“You gotta be kidding me…” I breathed, feeling myself become scared and angry.
“And then, she went all crazy on me, like she just kicked me out of my house!” He made a kicking motion with his black conversed foot. Of course, he went on, until he saw me.
I just couldn’t believe it was Calvin.
“And there she is!” Calvin exclaimed as he walked over to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. “How are you, Calia?”
“Um, fine, I guess…” I trailed. Well, more like stammered.
“That’s good.” He flipped his dark brown hair to the side. “You know, my parents were worried about you. You know, after you ran off.”
“You’re kidding, right?” I asked, stunned. They attacked me first, after all.
“No, they really were!” He laughed, and so did the others. “Of course, I’d be worried too if I heard my fiancée ran off like she did.”
The other students gasped, and I knew I was screwed.
“He’s your fiancé?” Michael asked, and I noticed he was there.
I paused. I really didn’t want to answer. Luckily, he did for me.
“Of course!” Calvin exclaimed, placing his hand to my face and turned my head toward him, where he leaned in and placed a kiss on my lips, this time more hard and demanding. I heard some students ‘aw’ and some students growl like they wanted to hurt me.
I knew it was going to be a bad fight later.
“Calia, you’re kidding, right?” I heard Drake ask, and I backed away from Calvin. I stared deep into Drake’s eyes, and I saw they were deeply hurt.
