Eva's POV

"-And how is married life" my mother asked as she lifted up her cup. I had just taken a sip of my tea and I ended up spitting it back out into the cup

"It's very good" I said as I shook my head slightly "Harry is a very nice husband" I said as I felt my stomach burn

"That's good to hear, and he's even king now, I knew you'd do well" she said. I could feel my fathers eyes burning into me so I turned to him

"My how much smaller you look" he said as his eyes ran from my body to my own eyes. I hadn't really noticed it till now. The stress from Harry meant I hardly ate, and when I did he rationed me. My mother hit him slightly

"You can't just say that" she grumped

"Sorry, anyway when are you going to be providing an air (I don't think that's the correct spelling for it)" my father asking trying to shug off what he just said. I felt my heart stop as I was reminded of what I was trying to block out. I'd have to carry his child so they would take over. And if his were anything like his father he will be a sadistic little bastard

"We are trying" I sighed with a smile just to lighten the mood. My mother smiled back to me and my father looked to his watch

"Well I'll leave you two together, I have some dinner I need to go to, see you later love" he said as he kissed my mother on the cheek. I said goodbye as he walked out and turned back to my mother

"I know it's daunting at first" my mother laughed "don't worry Hun you'll get use to it"

"Did you love father?" I asked, I know it was abrupt but I just wanted to let it out

"I love him yes-"

"When you first met, when your father told you that you had to marry him" i saw her face drop slightly

"I mean I have to admit it took me some time to warm up to him, but when I did I realised I loved that man, you can see what a great guy he is" she said as she awkwardly took a sip of her drink. She lifted her eyes back to mind

"Why, are you struggling to love Harry?" She asked. Honestly I think in love with someone, it just isn't Harry

"No no I'm just wondering, it's just something stupid i heard and it got me thinking about something" I said as I tired to laugh it off

"Do tell me more, I've been doing this wife thing for a long time" she said

"Someone told be how my life will be flawed because it's so "grand"" I said trying to shrug it off as nothing "I just thought maybe it's because I don't chose who I love, others do. The poor who don't have to marry for money so they marry for love" I said softly. I saw my mother face drop slightly

"You learn to love. This is your job, the poor have their jobs and we have ours. We work for the man who helps us financially, giving him children and an arm to hold onto. Just don't think about it" she said as she grabbed my knee "you are the kings wife Eva, you arn't married to a blacksmith or a butcher. Their wife's chose them, maybe from love, maybe from desire but their little lives don't matter. Yours does" she said as she began to lean back.

"I understand" I whispered as I ran my hands down the side of the chair

"Are you sure everything's okay" she asked after a moment

"Yeah yeah sorry I have just Been thinking a lot" I whispered

"You know I am here for you, even though I live far away. I know it takes some getting use to, especially when it's a step up to royalty. You always have our home to just run away to for a while" she smiled and grabbed hold of my hand. I smiled back to her as I wiped away a bastard tear

"Thanks mum" I whispered. She nodded and squeezed my hand

"Anyway I must be off, your grandmother invited her self over" she said rolling her eyes

"Well good luck" I laughed. My grandmother was a nightmare

"I'll need it. Anyway hopefully next time we see each other it won't just be you" she said as she looked to my stomach. I felt my face drop as a stepped back slightly

"Yeah" I laughed nervously. She gave me one last smile before walking out.

I needed a fucking huge drink.
