I sit at my table with my sister and some of her friends.

"I know right! That's what I told her, but nope! Never believes me!" Meredith gossips to her friends, about me. Of course she would.

"Meredith Blossom," a voice calls.

"Wish me luck." She walks off. Even though she acts confident, I can hear the shakiness in her voice.

"Hey Mackenzie," my brother walks over.

"Hello Mr. Blossom."

"Don't call me that, you're just my sister." My brother, Luke Blossom, stayed in Erudite. "By the way, I got you a present," he pulls out a box and hands it to me.

I open the box to reveal a crescent moon within a sun necklace. "Oh my goodness Luke, you didn't have to."

"It's your 18th birthday, it's the least I could do."

"Thank you!" I stand up and hug him. Meredith walks back in a few moments later, she's so pale, it makes her makeup stick out even more.

"I'm guessing a cute guy didn't do your Aptitude test?" her friend asks.

She shakes her head in response. "It's not at all what I was expecting..."

"Mackenzie Blossom"

"Good luck," my brother whispers to me, wrapping the necklace around my neck.

I say thanks and walk out of the cafeteria. Time to see what spooked my sister.
