A Hard Life: Ch. 13

"Hello everyone, my name is Sachi. And this is Kane," she says pointing him. "I will be helping with some of the training but for most of the time, you'll find me in the tattoo parlor."

"Most of you are Dauntless born initiates so I'm assuming you know where everything is. Return to your rooms. Training starts tomorrow." The Dauntless born leave, leaving 11 of us. "Initiates follow me for your tour."

We start walking and then I hear a voice say, "Pretty funny when Krisy got pushed, right?" I turn my head to see a girl with long, curly, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. She wears black and white, Candor.

"Yeah it was. Who pushed her?"

"Me of course! She was the one who was acting like a Stiff or a Pansycake."

I laugh. "Thanks so much for pushing Krisy."

"No prob. The name's Natalie from Candor." Just as I thought. "I think we'll be good friends, we both dislike Krisy."

"Yep, by the way, this is Jasmin!" I say motioning to the gray clothed girl.

They both say hi and we listen to Kane as he shows us around. There's our dorm, the training room, the cafeteria, the Pit, and the Chasm. The Chasm is this really huge river, it could kill anyone who jumped into the water.

"Let's get some tattoos to show that we will remain loyal to Dauntless!" Natalie suggests.

"I-I don't know..." Jasmin sounds worried. I'm not scared, I'm just not sure if I'm ready for a tattoo...

"It'll be fun! Come on!" Natalie drags us to the tattoo parlor. Jasmin was forced to go first, she got a tattoo of a black rose on her wrist. "You gotta chose something Kenzie!"

"I'm trying Natalie! But there's so many choices!"

"Well, what about this?" she points to three mockingbirds. I smile a little thinking of my father and how he taught me to sing.

I nod, "That's perfect." I walk over to Sachi. She has a mixed skin tone, her hair is done in braids, and she wears a black tank top with black shorts. "Could I get these?" I show her the mockingbirds, each one would represent my family member to remind me how we would all sing together, even though we weren't Amity.

She grinned, "Sure thing. You're one of the initiates aren't you?"

"Yes, I'm Kenzie Blossom."

She led me over to a chair and said, "Pleasure to meet you Kenzie. I'm sure you know my name is Sachi."

"I do." She grabs the needle and gets to work. It hurt, but not as much as I had expected. She placed them along my neck to where they look like they're charms on a necklace.

"Those are so pretty Kenzie!" Jasmin exclaimed.

"Thanks. Where's Natalie?"

"She's getting her's." As if on cue, she waltz out of a room flames running up along her right arm.

"You like? It's for Dauntless."

"It's awesome!" Jasmin and I say in unison. We laugh and head to our dorm after we ate dinner. Natalie sleeps on the top bunk next to me, and Jasmin sleeps below me. I sleep, dreaming of training tomorrow and my father singing to me.
