A/N: Man it's been awhile hasn't it? I've been busy so I couldn't post but here is another chapter. Enjoy!

"Happy 18th birthday sweetie!" My eyes flutter open to reveal my mom holding a basket of blue flowers.

"Good morning mom," I yawn sitting up. I notice a sapphire blue, rose dress sitting on the other end of my bed. "Mom, it's not like I'm a princess," I say knowing she picked it out.

"It's your birthday dear, and Choosing Day! I wanted you to feel special!" While my sister and her both liked fashion, my mom understood me. Meredith and our dad had a bond like mine and my mother's, but our dad died last year.

"What are the flowers for?"

"In our family, everyone has chosen to pick Erudite and the girls would have blue flowers woven into their hair." She smiled, and I smiled back. Even though I knew, I'd be breaking tradition today.

Before I knew it, I was in the sapphire, rose, poofy dress. My hair was braided with the flowers and I had some light makeup on. I actually looked, kinda pretty.

"There. Now you're a princess," my mom curtsied to me. She's always called me a princess since I was younger.

"Are we ready yet?" Meredith came in and her eyes practically popped out of her skull. "Well, look who's gussied up?" she smirked.

"Meredith," my mother scolded.

"It's alright, she's just jealous."

"You wish!" She smiled at me, "You do look like a princess though. Happy birthday."

"Thanks." With that, we walked with the rest of the other Erudite heading to the ceremony. My mother congratulating us, my sister beaming proudly, and I, dreading how I will betray my family.
