Kane's POV:

I stand at the train's doorway looking out into the night. I can stop thinking about Kenzie. What's happening to her? I'm most positive that Jeanine has her, and there's no telling what she'll do with her machines!

Konrad, Natalie, Jasmin, Elizabeth, and I are going to sneak into the Dauntless compound to smuggle some more guns. When we finally get close, we jump off. We run into the compound and it's abandoned. No one's here but we still proceed with caution.

"Where are the weapons?" Natalie moans.

"Shhhh!" I scold her as I see someone come into view. They're wearing Dauntless clothing with Erudite blue wrapped around their arms. Traitor...

Luckily, I have my gun. I aim quickly and shoot. His lifeless body crumples to the ground. I step over him and open a door.

"You know he didn't do anything!" Elizabeth shouts at me.

"Sure he did. One, he's a traitor. And two, he was guarding this door to the weapons." She huffs in defeat at my comeback.

They each pick out a gun, packs of ammo, and one or two knives. We then leave, only to face more traitors heading to the control room.

"Let's take them out," Konrad whispers.

"What? Why?" Jasmin questions.

"If we take all the guards out, then once we find Kenzie, we can come with any others here. 'Cause I know we don't wanna go back to Amity."

We all murmur in agreement so we follow them. There's about five of them, and there's five of us. Evenly matched, but we have the upper hand. We get in, and shoot them all down. Too easy. We check the security and see that there are no more traitors here. Jeanine was dumb to not place more, stronger security.

I hack the program so that it doesn't show Jeanine we were here, and so it doesn't show her what's happening here.

We leave and make sure all entryways are blocked, we set traps at the net incase anyone tried to get in. We jump back onto the train and head to Erudite.

"Hold on Kenzie, I'm coming," I mumble to myself.

Kenzie's POV:

"Look Kenzie. This is what your world will be like if you don't tell me what I need to know," Jeanine's cold voice says. I'm surrounded by corpses, screaming people, burned buildings, and everything basically is in ruins.

I close my eyes and smirk tiredly, "That's a lie." The scene changes to wear the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and the city looks like a normal city with happy people. I see Kane, Jasmin, Natalie, Elizabeth, Konrad, Meredith, and my mom. There are also birds singing and flying above my head. "This is what it will be like when we win this battle!"

I start thinking of who's missing, my dad. Then a song he created starts playing on the piano, it's called For River. A song my dad made for me, River is my middle name and he liked to call me that because I didn't like to sit still, one reason why I hated studying in Erudite. I was always moving like a river. I felt happy and at peace.

"You want me to snap her out of the simulation?" I hear Scourge ask.

"No. Just take her back to her cell and let her enjoy her little haven for a little while. The simulation will wear off."

I'm guessing he does so, my body feels numb but after a moment I can slightly feel the hard mattress underneath me. Finally I feel safe, but I feel a sharp pain in my left leg where Krisy cut me. I ignore it and fall asleep.
