astin
For Kyle's car to be so small, it fit everything we needed almost perfectly and to say I was shook was an understatement.
"Told you so." Kyle says smugly, glancing at me quickly.
I turn to the side a little and cock my head to the side the smallest bit. "Has anyone ever told you that you look like the mushrooms in Super Mario? Because you do."
"Excuse me?" Blake lets out a high pitched squeal and giggles loudly.
"Your beloved princess agrees." He shakes his head at us both but even he can't hide the smile on his face. I look at Blake in the rearview mirror to see she's plenty busy with her Bratz doll. I smile to myself at the scene I'm in. We settle into a comfortable silence with the radio playing lowly in the back.
"Yo this is really some family shit." Kyle randomly says, disrupting my peace.
"Kyle!" I yelp, hitting his shoulder. "Language."
"My bad, but dang. I'm just sitting here thinking and this is crazy. I would have never thought I would get here from hitting you in the face with that ball, no Lonzo."
He's so lame.
I love it.
"This doesn't bother you? Like at all?"
He shrugs. "Life is too short to be worrying about why you want to be with someone, Astin. I don't care if it was three hours after we'd met; I was attracted to you and I was going to get you. Then, you finally agreed to go out with me and we actually got to sit down as two adults and just talk and I was like, 'yeah, she's dope.'.
"But Blake-" I try to add in a hushed tone.
"Has anything I've done shown you that I care that you're a mom? She's great, you're great, we're great. Stop overthinking everything and maybe you can see that she doesn't bother me. I would never hurt her, or you for that matter."
I bite my lip and I have an overwhelming feeling to kiss him.
"I really wish we were alone." I murmur.
He takes a sharp intake of breath and blows it back out. "I- shut up, Astin. Take a nap or something."
I giggle and turn towards the window.
We don't say anything else until we pull into the Splashy's parking lot and immediate confusion takes over me.
"Why's it so empty? Is that B's Range Rover?"
"I thought we could invite the others so it wouldn't be so obvious? Your dad rented out the park."
"What?"
He doesn't get a chance to explain anything else because people start climbing out of cars left and right.
"You drove my car here?" I ask my mom as she climbs out the driver's seat of my Tesla.
"You thought I was going to let it occupy space in my drive way like you pay bills? No ma'am. Remind me to give Austin back her spare key." She sways by me and grabs Blake out the car while I share a look with Kyle.
"Y'all go in while we get our things. We got it." Kyle speaks and everyone starts trickling inside the park, too preoccupied with Blake to care about us.
Once I see they're far enough away I turn to Kyle and pout.
"You invited everybody?"
Whether I wanted to admit it or not, I was hoping it would just be us and Blake today.
"I think your people invited some people too because I don't know everybody I just saw."
I let out a deep sigh and he cradles my head in his hands. "Hey, chill out. Everything's going to be okay. This is probably good; they'll help me keep my hands off you."
"Boo." I say, pouting again. He chuckles and leans down. I close my eyes and lean towards him only to be met with the opening of a car door.
"Come on. They aren't going to wait forever; grab a towel."
My eyebrows come together as he dumps our towels on me. He locks his car and starts walking towards the park.
"Kyle..." I trail, my discontent most likely showing on my face.
"Astin..." He mocks. "As much as I'd love to do what you're oh so fixated on, I one, don't want to go in there with swollen lips," I frown at this; all I wanted was a lil peck. And maybe a lil tongue. "And, you're still second-guessing this. So until you figure out what you trying to do, I'm not getting into nothing."
"I am not," I clear my throat and take a deep breath. "I'm not second guessing, I just want to make sure you're okay. I was born into this, but this is all new for you and if we do make this something you're going to join my lifestyle."
He scoffs. "What? The paparazzi? They don't phase me. I'm 100%. I'm playing well, I'm taking care of my family and I'm working on getting a new one," He grabs my hand and kisses it. "I'm good, Astin. Now, if we could go a day without one of these serious ass talks that would be perfect."
I give him a guilty smile and tuck the towels into my bag.
"Come here," I grin and bring his lips down to meet mine.
"Ast-"
"I don't care about swollen lips, Kyle." I murmur before pressing my lips back against his. He pulls away too soon and takes a couple steps back.
"If we can do that, and it feel like that, we're moving at the perfect pace." He hands me the towels again and grabs my free hand. I shyly look down and mentally groan. He was right; maybe we were going at our own pace because everything felt so right.
As we come into the park I can already here the voices of everyone waiting and of course Brandon's loud ass laugh.
a/n › hey y'all! I never leave these because I honest to God find them so annoying but I thought it was fitting because I've almost reached 3K reads and that's crazy. Thank y'all for reading and dealing with my slow ass plot. I know a lot of fan fictions move hella fast but I wanted mine to be a bit more realistic. I was talking to a friend the other day and they were telling me it was safe to speed it up a little, but provide a reason for doing so. Did I get that across in the story? I hope so. How are y'all liking it so far? All y'all don't be commenting but I see y'all 👀. Let me know if y'all feeling it or not and what y'all would like to see. I'm not saying I'll put it in, but I'm curious to know what y'all think they (or any other character) should do next.
SPECIAL THANKS TO TJasper for telling my ass to update. I got you girl 😫
