astin

I try and calm my beating heart as we meet almost everybody at the Lazy River. Kyle touches my waist briefly and murmurs, "Just Blake or are we hiding from everyone?"

I chew on my lip and look around at the different faces. "Just her; I trust everyone here."

He nods and pecks my cheek quickly.

I smile up at him before turning away and meeting Brandon and Austin at the edge. I aww at the sight of Blake in her life jacket and floaties that made her seem like a pumpkin. She had taken swimming lessons since she was one, but it never hurt to be safe.

"Mommy, you need a donut!" Blake squeals, trying to stand in the one she was sharing with Austin.

"Mommy's fine, Blake. Sit down."

She pouts and then her eyes light up at something behind me.

"Kyle! Are you sharing with mommy?" She asks, her smile stretching for miles.

"Do you want me to share with mommy?"

She nods heavily and he laughs. "Alright then. I'm sharing with Mommy."

I glare at them and they both just smile at me. Traitors.

Kyle had gotten a large one seater and because we're equal parts lazy and in-like, I just sat on his lap.

"Wait-fuck." He mutters when I sit down and I giggle. I move around a little and smirk.

"Are you comfortable, baby?" I whisper.

"Shit. Shut up, Astin. Take a nap or something."

I full out laugh and Blake joins me just because. I roll my eyes at her silliness and use my arms to push us closer to them.

"You've been awfully quiet, twin." I peer curiously at her.

She meets my eyes and gives me a crooked smile. "We don't even have the same birthday, remember?"

"If only mama could have tried a little harder."

"Or, you could have been turned the right way." My mom bumps the donut she and my dad are sharing against mine.

"Chill on me; I wasn't going to make the two minutes anyway."

"You underestimate your mama's pushing skills."

Aus and I gag and push their float away from us. Disgusting. We come to a fork in the river and Aus sends me a sly smirk before going separate from Kyle and I.

"Blake! You're leaving me!" I whine, in hopes that she'll call out for me.

"Bye mommy!" She squeals, splashing around in her own little world.

Blake Alea Carter fails me again.

I sigh and lean back into Kyle as we silently float.

"You and Austin don't share a birthday? Isn't that like, a requirement?" He asks, drawing on my thighs.

I allow a short laugh to come from me before looking up at him. "She was born 11:58 December 23rd and I was born 12:13 December 24th. If we weren't identical we wouldn't even go by twins but because our faces are a dead giveaway we just say we're twins for lack of better explanations. I mean, technically we are still twins."

"And you were turned the wrong way?"

I shuffle over a little and clear my throat. "Uh, yeah. I survived though. Clearly."

He gaze doesn't waver from my face and I change the subject.

"So, how's your mom and siblings?"

He shrugs with a lazy smile. "They're good. My mom still wants to meet you by the way. She keeps telling me to tell you she says hello every time I talk to her but I don't want to weird you out."

I look up at him at pout. "I'm not...weirded out by it I just think that I want you to be one hundred percent sure that I'm- we're what you want before letting us meet your mom. That's a big step. You can't take anything back after that. And does she know about Blake? She probably thinks you're too young for kids. Hell, she probably thinks I'm too young for kids. Kyle, what if she thinks I'm a hoe?"

He starts laughing and a frown covers my face. I wasn't kidding; there's a large chance his mom would hate me when she found out. She'd probably think I was trying to baby trap her son even though I already have more money than him and, no shade, he'd have to sign a lot of contracts to equal my inheritance alone.

But that's something we'll keep on the D.L.

"I already told her. She doesn't mind, Astin."

I blink a couple times, "You told her about Blake?"

He raises an eyebrow, "Was I not suppose to?"

"No, I don't mean it like that I just didn't expect you to tell her yet."

He hums a little but doesn't reply as we float in comfortable silence. All too soon we're back at the end and Blake is jumping up and down asking to go down the one of the water slides.

"Slide! Water, mommy!" She squeals and I mentally groan.

Fuck Kyle for having this idea.

We walk over to the slide and as I'm about to climb the few steps she starts screaming out Kyle's name directly in my ear and it almost earns her a pop.

"Blake! Calm down and stop! You don't have to yell!" I reprimand. Her lips start quivering and takes her less than a second to start crying.

"Aw, come here princess." Kyle coos, taking her away from me. She goes into his arms easily and nestles her head into his neck.

"Did mommy yell at you?"

I glare at him as he continues to baby her. She nods and hiccups a couple times.

She wasn't even crying that hard for all of that. Dramatic ass. She's definitely her aunt's niece.

He sits down on a step and I sit down next to them with a deadpan look on my face.

"Why did mommy yell at you, princess?" Kyle asks, making her stand up in front of him. She tries to climb back into his arms but he pushes her away and shakes his head.

"No Blake, why did you get yelled at?"

His rejection brings on a new round of tears and I genuinely do feel bad. She tries to go to him again and he steadies her again.

"You can cry but you're going to cry standing on your own two feet okay?"

After a second she nods and starts rubbing her eyes.

"M-Mommy y-yelled at m-me." She sniffles.

"And why did she do that?" He asks calmly and it physically hurts to see how well he works with her.

"B-b-because I y-yelled."

"Are you going to do it again?" She shakes her head and he finally opens his arms to her.

The way she immediately goes into her arms makes my eyes water and I have to look away before I embarrass myself again.

When I look back at Kyle he's giving me a smug grin and mouths, "I told you I was good with kids."
