Just as I finished eating my last potato our doorbell sounded. Throwing a quick glance at the clock on the wall, I grin. She was right on time. Astin peers at me curiously as I rise from the table, probably wondering why I was smiling so hard. She'd find out soon. I make my way from the dining room and to the door, wiping my hands on my pants before opening it.
"Good morning," Mama Carter greets me, a pair of designer glasses perched on her nose.
"Good morning. Thank you, for doing this. I really appreciate it."
She waves me away and strides into the dining room. As's face turns from confused to happy as she stands and hugs her mom.
"Hey mama. What you doing here?" She looks between us and I shrug lightly.
"It's your twenty first birthday girl! Go get drunk; I'm watching Blake for the day." Mama Carter picks Blake up from her seats and plants a kiss on her cheek. "You want to spend the day with your grammy?"
Blake nods heavily, a piece of sausage hanging half out her mouth. Mama Carter takes Blake back into her room while Astin raises her eyebrow at me.
"What?" I ask innocently.
"'What?'," She mocks. "I'm not an idiot Kyle. What are you doing?"
I shrug and start clearing our plates. "You done?" I ask. She silently pushed her plate towards me, a cute frown on her face. Mama Carter comes back through with Blake's travel bag hanging off her shoulder.
"Alright, we're leaving. Blake tell your parents bye."
She comes up to me first, willing me to pick her up so she can give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Bye daddy." I set her back down and she does the same to her mom, adding another "Happy Birthday" in the mix. Astin and I are silent until they've left and then she stands and shoves a finger into my chest.
"What do you have planned?"
I allow a lopsided smirk to show, "Now it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you that, would it?"
She groans and paces back and forth. "I do not like surprises, Kyle! The last time a surprise was planned for me I ended up pregnant! Do you want me to get pregnant?"
I stay silent, allowing half my lip to curve upwards and allow my shoulder to lift and then fall in a lazy movement. "I don't think the answer I have is the one you're looking for, so I'll just keep it to myself, baby." I could see that she was getting ready to argue me down so before she could I grab her by the waist and pull her into my chest. "Would I mind if you got pregnant with my baby? Not exactly," She tries to move away from me but I hold her captive. "But, I also don't want to have another child right now. Blake is more than enough for us at the moment. Now, in about a year or three? I want Kyle Jr."
A small gasp falls from her lips and she turns to me with a scowl. "We're not naming our first boy Kyle Jr."
My grip on her tightens as she admits she wants to have kids with me. I look down into her eyes and lick my lips. "And why not?" I murmur. She looks down and shrugs.
"Kyle doesn't seem like a name that would be a junior. Plus, I wanted him to have my dad's middle name: Theo."
I smile down at her and chuckle, "You've thought about this deeply, huh?"
She groans and tries to push me away again. "Kyle," She whines. "You always ruin our moments. And yes, I have thought about it. Your mom calls me all the times to tell me she's ready for me to have my eggs cracked again."
