Chapter 18

~ Jong Hyun’s POV

                I looked at the doctor, “What’s wrong with her?” I asked and the doctor looked back at me with a straight face.

                He cleared his throat before he spoke.

                While he was speaking I can feel Yvette’s hold on my hand loosens eventually, and I looked at her. Darn.

                I can tell she’s frightened in what the doctor said about the findings on her. I can’t believe it myself either. I don’t want to believe it. Aish!

                I looked back at the doctor as he continued to speak, “Well… The cancer cells are generating unusually faster than normal. In her case, it begins to infect almost all of her body parts that can be infected with myeloma” I noticed that the doctor looked at Yvette, and I looked at her as well. She’s spacing out. Her stare across the room is lifeless… Her aura is empty… I can feel she’s alarmed to hear she has blood cancer. But of all people, why her?...

                After a moment of silence, “She’ll be cured right?” I asked with this growing fright in me. But I don’t want to let Yvette see that I am frightened as well.  I want her to see that I can be strong for her.

                The doctor looked at me, “There are numerous ways to treat the cancer cells. There’s chemotherapy, radiation therapy and stem cell transplant. But---“

                “But I’m not going to be cured, ne?” Yvette said softly with her eyes starting to form tears.

                I looked at the doctor and he hesitantly answered her question, “In your case dear, it’s hard to tell that you’ll be cured if you undergo any of those treatments for Leukemia”

                “There’s no harm in trying right? She can still undergo the treatments, it can somehow help to attack the cancer cells right?” I said as I feel so despondent for Yvette. Aigooo… Why is this happening to her?

                The doctor shook his head, “Aniyo. It might just trigger the spread of cancer cells in her body. I can only give her medications as treatment”

                I snickered, “Ha! Medicines as her treatment?” I felt Yvette’s hand on my arm. She looked at me with a sorrowful smile. Aish. T_T It breaks my heart to see a cheerful girl to be like this.
