Two wars, a couple primordials, tens of titans and giants, dozens of battles, hundreds of deaths, and approximately a million monster attacks later, I thought I'd get a chance at a normal life - we all did. Well, okay, not normal. No demigod can live a normal life, but I at least thought we could avoid future... predicaments.
Personally, I was looking forward to going to college with Annabeth. Unfortunately, I forgot one big problem; I had to finish high school first. Annabeth, being the smart one in the group, had already achieved enough credits to graduate, and took all the compulsory courses early. So she would be spending some time with her dad, stepmother and half-brothers, and then working on Olympus in her spare time.
Luckily, some of the other demigods agreed to join me. Frank and Reyna couldn't; they were a little preoccupied running a legion. Hazel wasn't comfortable with with people from this century. Nico would rather hang out with the living than the dead, and Jason made a promise to establish temples at both camps.
Piper would be joining me, though. So would Connor Stoll. Surprisingly, the two brothers had separated so that Travis could go to college, and Connor didn't really want to be alone. Piper, being a year younger than us, would be a junior at Goode this year. Connor and I were going in as seniors. Just one more year, and I could be with Annabeth.
Mr. McLean had rented an apartment for Piper in my building, at her insistence, so if there was a monster attack, we wouldn't be too far apart. Hermes, too, had worked some magic - probably literally - and managed to get Connor the apartment across from mine.
On the first day of school, there we were. The three of us sitting outside the apartment building contemplating how the year would be. If we were lucky, I wouldn't get us kicked out, which would probably be bad considering Paul got us in.
Speaking of my step-dad, as he came out, the three of us barely stopped chatting to get into the Prius, the hood still dented with hoof prints. This year would be interesting to say the least, but what I didn't know was that things were about to get even weirder than normal.
