"Um, I've never had a locker before," I pronounced awkwardly to the good-looking boy, Percy.

You'd think I'd be blushing, and I was, but his cheeks turned tomato red. "Oh, I- yeah- here, I'll help you."

It wasn't my fault that I'd never had a locker. Even if you can't tell by looking at me, I'm not from around here. I'm not even from this continent, or even this planet, but this is where I call home. When I was really young, my planet, Lorien, was destroyed. Nine of us escaped, along with our Cepan, who were responsible for keeping us safe. Did I mention the aliens who destroyed my planet were now hunting us down one by one?

The idea was that when we got to earth, we'd split up into our pairs, and keep moving around so that if the Mogs ever came here, it wouldn't be easy to find us. To make it harder for them, we had to be killed in order. Unfortunately, they did find us, and since then, One, Two and Three have died. I have the scars to prove it.

The thing is, my Cepan, Katerina, didn't exactly follow the move-around rule. For years, we stayed at Santa Teresa where I was educated and she became obsessed with the word of God. We didn't have religion like that back home, but Katarina became faithful in the gospel. It wasn't until last month that I talked her into moving somewhere new, and it hadn't been pretty.

Back there, at my own personal prison, all my stuff had been kept in my room. I didn't have a need for a locker, and there weren't any there. I'd never even seen one before today.

"Do you mind if I look at the combo?" Percy asked. "If you want to get it changed later, just ask the office." I nodded and he read my paper.

"It's just like this, right to 17, left a full circle to 9, and then right to 27," he told me quietly, twisting the lock to show me how it was done. I was pretty sure some of the others had turned to watch.

"Thanks," I said as the lock clicked open.

"No problem. Oh, and one more thing - don't give Connor your combo. Actually, it's probably better to hide it from him at all costs."

"Hey," he exclaimed.

Percy just smiled and shoved his friend's shoulder playfully. They must be friends. "Seriously, though. If you have problems, you can ask me or the office. Do not," he pointed at Connor, "give him your combo. He's promised not to break into anything without permission, but he'll take that as permission, even if he steals the combo."

"Just so you know, I'm standing right here."

"Yeah, I'm just trying to help out an unsuspecting new classmate from getting painted orange or stabbed or-"

"Nobody got stabbed!" Connor interrupted. At that, Percy tilted his head and raised his eyebrows. "Okay, fine. But it really wasn't that deep and it was Travis's fault."

"As fun and interesting as this is," I added thoughtfully. "I think we're supposed to be touring the school, right?" I closed my locker, still clutching my schedule, and turned to face them.

Both of them were staring at me. Connor looked like he'd forgotten I was there. Percy looked at me with an air of respect, which I didn't quite understand. Both of them made me uncomfortable, and I looked away. Did I mention there were no boys at Santa Teresa?

Thankfully, I was saved by the other girl in our tour group. "Can you take us around to where our classrooms are? I don't really want to get lost on the first day."

Percy nodded. "Which classes do you guys have?"

Immediately, he was bombarded with answers from the red-head, her friend, Connor and Jeremy. Percy stopped walking, and after I regained my composure after almost running into him, he turned and gave us a lopsided smile.

"Either you guys need to give them to me one at a time or I need superpowers." Connor snorted as if that amused him, and then just handed Percy his schedule. I did the same. Soon Percy was holding three more.

He said something quietly, like, 'well that's another way to do it' and turned back around. Apparently Percy, Connor, Jeremy and I all had the same first period class - world history. I was also with Percy and Connor for English the next period, so he decided that we could skip the history and English classrooms and he'd show us the way.

"Oh, great. You've got the same schedule as me. The exact same schedule. How'd you manage that?" Percy asked, not really annoyed. I thought he was talking to me, and winced, but apparently that comment was aimed at Connor.

"I've got mad skills. And they probably wanted to keep the ADHD kids together. It's actually not my fault this time," he admitted, but he was grinning, so I wasn't sure if he was kidding or not. If Mogs were as hard to read as Connor was, I was going to have a really hard life.

"You guys have ADHD?" the other girl asked. I think her name was Clary, but I wasn't completely sure. It could have been something like Claire or Carla, or something like that. Wow, I needed some serious observation practice.

"Yeah," Connor said. "Natural ba-"

"Bickering," Percy finished, shooting Connor a quick look that, again, I couldn't read. "That, and we can't sit still. It's kind of how we met, actually."

Clary frowned, and then she shot a look at the boy beside her. High school glances were seriously going to kill me if the Mogs didn't get to me first. Actually, I guess the looks would kill the people giving them since I couldn't die until Four, Five and Six did.

"Anyway, we were going by here anyway so this is our English room, Marina. Oh, and Jeremy, this is your third period class." Percy waved through the window at the teacher in the room who smiled back.

"Math is this way," he said, leading us into another hallway. "Jeremy, that's your second period classroom."

Next he lead me to my french room, and Clary to hers. Connor added something about a girl named Piper probably being in Clary's french class, followed by a turn into the science block. Then we walked downstairs to the vocational classrooms where Clary was taking a bunch of arts and computer related classes and Simon was taking a film studies and media production class. Finally, he brought us to the gym.

"So apparently all of us have gym last period together every other day. When we aren't in gym class, we're taking Greek, and these classes are mixed with the eleventh graders, so yes, you have to put up with juniors."

"So what is it today?" I asked. "Gym or Greek?"

He smiled. "Today will probably be more of a freebie. The teachers will probably talk for a bit, then we should be free to chat the rest of class or play dodgeball or something. Is there anywhere else you need me to show you?" he asked. The bell rang. "Nevermind. Marina, if you want to come with me and Connor, I can help you get to history and English. Do you think the rest of you will be able to find your classes okay?"

Clary, Simon and I nodded. Jeremy was already walking away. He hadn't even bothered to wait for Percy to finish talking.

Percy watched him leave and shrugged. "Looks like he knows where he's going." I was actually kind of impressed on how well he kept his cool. If I had the time to worry about non life-threatening things like high school, I would have been annoyed.

"If you guys need anything, let me know. If not, I'll see you in gym," Percy said, and he and Connor walked away, me trailing behind.

A/N And there we have it folks, another chapter to top off the day, and the longest one yet. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this, the first few were short, but we will get into the 'meat and potatoes' eventually. Peace out.
